Tire time

My Michelinís are celebrating their 5th birthday next week and I have an appointment to re shoe the rig ( Ď14 2860DS) tomorrow
I have noticed the start of cracking on one rear tire and the fronts are cupped from before my alignment two years ago
Anyway the Truck shop I use for this stuff offered me a good deal on the BF Goodrich LTs and I have read mixed reviews.
The most common knock is tread life.
Thatís not a problem for me because we arenít retired yet and we Camp as opposed to Travel.
The OE Michelinís have 14000 miles on them into our 4th season
Anyone that has experience with and input on the BF Goodrich,Iíd love to hear from you
Thanks, TR

no major problem with the generals

I have a love/hate relationship with mich. Easy 50m on the 17"s mich for DW's Avalon, working past 55m on a f150 michs with some weather checking, but gave lousy side wall support on my last f250 with 20". As you have prob noticed there seems to be many 22" class A that are very happy with mich.

I wonder about the lifespan of heavy load bearing tires from mich that are not bus rated.

Our C came with Generals and at 20m plus they show little if any wear in tread, and no cracking. They do not sing or vibrate. So I am may stay with the brand if they seem durable past 55m.

What "drove" you to BF if I may ask.

I have had good experience with their car tires
And the Shop gave me a good price
Goodyearís were recommended as a less expensive alternative to Michelinís and the Goodrich originally were the same price but I got them $20 off retail a piece
As I said earlier we donít put a lot of miles on the rig and Iím ready to try something different
I do buy Michelin Tires for my motorcycles
They are really great tires for the sport tour bikes but the premature side wall cracking and premium price has turned me off from the LT tires

size

Lt225 75r16 or larger? I am interested in how the swap to BF works out for you. Sounds like you may be on a ford chas, if so do you currently have rubber valve stems?

Sounds good. My rear tires (rims) have been on the coach since birth. Are you inclined to rotate the new tires? I went for no on the factory set, not so sure with new shoes...

I didnt rotate on the Factory Tires
but talking to people I may rotate at least to get the outer tires out of full sun exposure year after year
Although I do cover them when not in use

I’m not sure if it’s worth it but CoachNet has a discount tire buying service for some brands (I think Michelin and Goodyear). Look like 15% off. Not familiar with the details. My rubber is new so it will be awhile for me.
