Toad question
I know there are variables, however, can anyone be so kind as to give me an estimate of the Toad vehicle weight I could be looking at for a 2020 Sunseeker 2440DS?
Dry Sunseeker.
Thank you for your help.

On the forest river website it says the GVWR is 14500 and the GCWR is 22000 so your towing capacity is probably around 7500lbs. Hope that helps.

Thank you so much for your quick reply. I thought it was in that area. I didn't have the two numbers readily available at the moment. I guess I should have maybe gone to the site, but your help is appreciated.

Now let's hear from some of those no TOAD braking system guys with a GVWR of 14,500 and a GCVW of 22,000 or more than 1/3 of the total weight on the towbar.

I have the same year, model, and chassis motorhome as Fathermo, the original poster. The hitch on the motorhome is rated to tow up to 7500 pounds according to the label on the hitch. Further, the Ford chassis GCWR of 22,000 pounds will allow the full hitch rating to be towed.
You lost the bet. Posting answers that are just bets or guesses are not really helpful.

I suggest that you get a little experience before you decide what is helpful and what is not. Obviously a problem that can be resolved from posted specs is not really an issue that will generate a lot of confusion. Of course, I could have looked it up myself, before posting which I usually do.
Some problems are not so easily resolved...

A bit of history. Ford chassis Sunseekers built before 2015 have the same tow capacity but the hitch is only rated at 5000#'s. 2015 and newer have a tow capacity of 7500#'s. I believe the difference is the thickness of the safety chain loops on the hitch.
As far as auxiliary braking for toads, most if not all states require brakes on toads/trailers above 3000#'s. Check the state regulations you plan to tow in.
