Torque Converter

My 3170 is less than a year old. I noticed something leaking and it turns out that a weld blew on the torque converter. Any one else have this issue on the E450? Hoping to maybe prevent future occurances. We bought it in March 2013 and have put about 17,000 miles on it. A lot of mountain driving. Thank God for warranties...

Maybe ask around on the Ford forum (trucks). Some of those guys do some hard hauling with the V-10. I never heard of this and I know quite a few guys with the V-10.
This should be covered by Fords 5year/60,000 mile powertrain warranty.

How did you make out with your coach frame repair?

Have not had any problems with my 2012 and have not seen any issues like this online. The v10 and torque shift usually has been bullet proof. You can get leaks in welds because of torque converter overloading or ballooning which can crack a weld. My guess is you just got one with a defective weld.

I work on trannies, have not seen this lately. Are you sure its a weld or possibly a front tranny seal?

The frame repair went great. Looks really good.

As for the tranney, I don't know a whole lot about this. I have to go with the people at the Ford dealer. They are waiting on parts and I should be getting it back next week. They said that they have to pull the transmission to confirm their suspicion.
