Tow Lights
OK, for those of you who use a tow dolly and add the magnetic lights to the rear of the towed vehicle, how do you power these lights if the tow dolly is plugged into the 7 pin connector?
Maybe I'm missing something, but hope someone will shed a little light on this subject for me.
Thanks.

Yes. I attach mine to the 7 pin. My magnetic lights are 4 pin but I picked up a simple 7 - 4 pin adaptor. Works great.

Thanks for the reply. I guess my question is how do you power them both at the same time. I only have a 7 pin outlet on the back of the Sunseeker. I know there must be a simple answer, but I'm missing it...

Tow Lights
Oh sorry. All power comes thru the 7 pin connector and powers the magnetic lights. No extra power required. Lights will match whatever you have on, running lights at night, turn or brake.
My magnetic lights have one long cord that I just plug into the back of my camper.

You could add a four way plug at the back of the camper or jump into the wire of the 7 way that is powering the tow dolly.

OK, now I'm really going to show my ignorance... How do you plug 2 things into one outlet?

You might want to change your 7 way plug to this style.

Yeah, I was looking at adapters on Amazon, but I don't understand the 7 pin to 6 pin conversion. I haven't purchased the tow dolly yet. Planning to in the next couple of weeks. Do I have to have a 6 pin plug installed on the tow dolly and then use the adapter for 6 pin and 4 pin? I pulled a TT for several years with my SUV and only used the 7 pin connection, so the tow dolly is something new for us.
BTW, thanks for your replies.

What does your dolly need? 4 pin, 5 pin, 6 pin or 7 pin? All are available.
Chances are the magnetic lights use a 4 pin.
As stated above, you can get a device that has both a 4 pin and a 7 pin socket, so you can plug both in at the same time. If both your dolly and lights need 4 pin plugs, you could change one to a 7 pin.
The illustration above is for a 4 and 6 pin. Following is a link to a sample 4 and 7 pin for illustration. They are available in a number of places.

I haven't purchased the dolly yet so I don't know the type of plug it will have. I was searching the google to see if they made a 7 blade to 7blade and 4 pin adapter, but haven't had much luck. Guess I'll get the trailer dealer add a 4 pin pig tail to the back of the motorhome.
Thanks for your assistance. This is why I love this site, everyone really tries to assist with information when you need it.

Don't change your seven "blade" or "pin" socket, simply add another 4 pin with it's own L-bracket mount dedicated to the magnetic lights. Use these (below)to connect the wires. Also add a thin piece of cloth to the bottom of the magnetic mount to protect vehicle paint (except for the Saturn Vue which has non metal body panels). Wasn't thinking when I bought the mag mount lights.

Thanks SilhouettePenny, that's looking like the solution I need.
And, JLeising, thanks for the Amazon links, but that leaves me with just a 4 pin connector, I was hoping to transform the 7 blade outlet to a 7 blade with a 4 pin to be able to plug in my tow dolly, with electric brakes, and the magnetic lights into the same outlet.
Thanks again, everyone.

Perhaps I'm missing something here? My thoughts are--why does the dolly need to be plugged in for lights when the car on the dolly is plugged in and lite up?

What I'm attempting to do is to have the dolly plugged in for the lights and the electric brakes, which will use my 7 blade plug on the back of the MH. I would also like to have additional lighting on the back of the car (magnetic tow lights) for additional safety.
MH only has the 7 blade receptacle and I need a way to add the 4 pin receptacle for the magnetic lights.
JLeising's link gives me exactly what I have been looking for.

Looking at this set of lights right now.

No offence to you , but those connectors are the WORST!!! thing to use when making connections on wires exposed to the outside weather. Splice , solder , cover with heat shrink protector only way to go.

My Kar Kaddy has a 7 pin for the dolly lights and another 4 pin for the additional lights.
