Yes, if you have a switch box the booster is "always on".

Make sure the antenna is cranked up and remember it is directional. You can then go into the menu on the TV. The last menu item (if I recall correctly) has a signal meter. You can rotate the antenna to get the best possible signal.

What we learned with our 2450S recently is that when you plug into a cable TV cord that you have to turn off your antenna booster. If you do not, than the cable comes in like the 70s!! We have the full entertainment center instead of bunks and our switch is in the right side of the TV opening bottom shelf.

With a standard booster that is correct. With the switch box that has different inputs. Some are boosted all the time...some are not boosted ever.

So if I understand everything... the booster is automatically on the box with the switches is set to ANT. If I switch to cable or DVD, then the booster is turned off. There is nothing to do other than selecting ANT on the box.

Correct. In theory, that's how that particular box is supposed to work.

If you decide to run Satellite however, you need to go into the receiver first, then out of the receiver into the switch box. That box still doesn't play well with Sat signal.

Look in the cabinet where your coax goes from the tv to the wall plate, on ours it is a tiny little push button, no light. If you look closely with a flash light you should see it, along with ON/OFF imprinted on the face plate.
