Update on winterizing bypass valve for 2500TS

I finally got around to installing the bypass valve on my 2500TS, under the bed as I decided in a previous thread. I went in pretty easy, just bought a couple of shark bite fittings with 1/2" female ends that went right onto the valve, cut a bit of pex out of the fresh water line from tank, and pushed lines right into shark bites. Done. Less than 10 minutes. Here are before and after pics. There is one problem, though. As you can see in the last pic, after I finished winterizing, I noticed the water at the bottom of the filter housing. It won't mix with the antifreeze! Do I need to drain and start all over?!

I would dump it, put a clean pop bottle in it and fill it again or just empty it and re-install empty.

I don't understand how the water got trapped in there after you drained the system, removed the filter, dumped the water, and reinstalled the canister.

Anyway, since it is there, you have 2 choices:

1) Drain the RV antifreeze using the low point drain into a RV antifreeze jug. Remove and dump the liquid in the canister and reinstall. You should not need to replace the antifreeze since any fresh water has already been displaced in the initial flush.

2) Do Nothing. Over time the water will mix with the antifreeze, diluting the antifreeze only slightly as it tries to reach equilibrium. The reason they are separated currently is the lower density of the antifreeze is sitting on top of the water like a shot of Dark Rum floater on a Mai Tai.

Over time (left to itself) that drink will assume a uniform color.

I don't use a filter element in it, I use an inline hose filter when filling fresh tank or using city water. I just figured the antifreeze would push the water out when winterizing. Live and learn. It's not too cold here yet, I am going to keep an eye on it; if it looks like it is mixing over time, I will leave it. If not, I will try to recycle some of the antifreeze from the low point drain and start again.
