Upgrade/Add AC with roof replacement?

My '03 2890 is a great rig but it needs a new roof. I am considering adding a second AC unit with the roof replacement. Opinions on what else would need to be upgraded (50 amp?, new converter?) when adding a second AC unit would be appreciated.

I think that would be a big job yes it would have to be 50 amps to run 2ac's I'm sure it could be done but I would never spend that kind of money on one

I wanna add a second a/c to mine also... My plan(if I get the nerves to locate and cut the roof) is to add a separate 15 or 20 amp lead from the trailer somewhere to plug in the pole for the a/c and of course add a separate breaker box for it and maybe another outlet for heaters during the winter. Just my .02

I'm adding a second a/c to mine this fall when camping comes to a end.
30 amp service camper.
I'm adding a new line dedicated to the front a/c to be plugged right in the shore power pole.

I plan to do this mod. before we head out west within the next 2 years... If the current 13.5 Dometic is still working well, I will move it to the bedroom vent & install the new 15 in its place. On the new 20A circuit I also plan to add a couple 110V outlets so that I can run a 2nd heater or electric skillet.

Turbs, it's worth the effort to add the second A/C. Having the RV cooling down to the 70's when it's 100 outside in the sun. Or just locking yourself in the cold bedroom.

Am I missing something here? Why would you need two A/Cs on a Class C motor home? Just wondering.

I also see now that the 2003 2890 is a Class C... If one A/C is not cooling down that size RV then something is wrong with the A/C or ducts... IMO if the current A/C is not doing a good job you should just replace it with a 15K & forget about trying to add a 2nd A/C.

A 50 amp conversion will need a new power distribution panel and wiring. Need to talk to an electrician. a 50 amp service is a 220 volt connection. Lots more available power.

Far cheaper and way easier to run a dedicated 20amp line to the pedestal.

I have a 32' Sunseeker the A/C will freeze you out. Of course we set A/C in house at 80 and run ceiling fans constantly.

The 50amp plug is 2 hots a neutral and a ground. Across both hot legs is 240volts. Each hot leg to neutral is 120volts.
That is why at the power pedestal the camo site is being fed with a 2 pole 50amp circuit breaker.

Our 1989 Winny Chieftain had 2 ACs and 30 amp service. It had a selector switch so you could only run 1 when plugged in, both on genset.

Got my a/c unit!
13.5k brisk air II
Also purchased a 30 amp bulkhead receptacle at the goshen rally.
Ordered and waiting for the inside non ducted control panel / air defuser and 12/2 wire with ground.
Install coming soon.

I'll start a new thread with install as to not muddy this one up.

Mind sending me some part numbers you decided on?

make sure you wake me up when you do you mod thread! Excited to see how yours turns out!

I was looking in mine a week or two ago and I've got nice aluminum bracing in front of an behind my opening. Figuring my route for wires is going to be the time consuming part... also debating whether i want to go with a wall mounted thermostat or not...
