Using frig when traveling?

I am new at RV camping so I need some help. I just bought a 1500TS, last week. I am reading manuals and posts here to help answer questions. As best I can tell my refrigerator runs on 110 AC and LP gas. The RV manual says to turn off LP gas when traveling. So how does the frig stay cold when traveling?
If frig also ran on DC 12 volts, no problem when traveling, do I ignore manual and leave LP on?

We've been RVing for 12 years now, and we have ALWAYS left propane turned on so the refrigerator cools. It's never been a problem. Perhaps on short trips turning the propane off would be OK, but when we head out and drive for 8 or 10 hours, I'm not sure food would stay safely cold without the refrigerator working.

Your gonna more than likley get different takes on this but the only thing that works on 12volts is the heater strip for the moisture control if your unit has that option (good to know because it is a potential power drain). I personally travel with the fridge running on LP but most of my trips are an hour at most.

If you look around this forum you will find several discussions on this subject. The general consensus is that most folks simply leave the gas and refrigerator on unless refueling. When I refuel, I turn off the fridge.

I don't travel with mine on, for me I don't see a reason. If you have frozen foods in the freezer it will keep your fridge cold a very, very long time. We use any frozen food on that trip, so if it defrosts a little on the trip it's no problem.

Keep in mind many tunnels and some bridges require you to shut it off.

13 years and two trailers, no problem yet running with the lp on.
