Hello,

Push up on the little lever type things on each side. They are really hard to unlock. I used a little silicone lube so they are looser to undo.

Mine were very hard, to the point it hurt my thumbs to get it open. I just leave them open in between trips but will close it up once I winterize.

Yep, up and out with a lot of force. It's been reported that the door will come out and blow away if you travel with it open.

As a side note, that is the vent for the exhaust fan. The oven vent first out the back of the oven and up the wall to the exhaust fan. Don't put anything plastic on the burner cover with the oven on. Don't ask me how I know!

As others have said...make sure to close when you travel, or you will find it gone down the road....I made that mistake TWICE...Dad said I was hard headed, and I prove him right more than I should.

I'm 6'1" and can just reach mine on my 2250. Hard to operate. I've complained about this poor arrangement to Brian Clemens and also to an engineer when I toured the Sunseeker plant during the rally. I asked him to open one on a unit--he had a hard time and blamed it on paint then was not too interested in talking to me further. By the way, Coachmen uses a vent with just a flap on their Leprechaun, no fighting it!

Mine was hard to open back in February when new. Now, either it's breaking in and becoming easier or I'm simply getting used to popping it open.

Thumbs down

I responded in a separate post but mine could not be opened unless pried with a screwdriver. I also had to use a small hammer to close. So the third time around the little snaps broke. So I use duct tape for now until I decide on what to do next.

They are difficult to open at first. They do get a bit easier as they break in...but I'll suggest looking at a new supplier.

Those vents were heavily adopted by a lot of mfg's because they were the first vents to be UV stable. The ones previous with little "T-style" twist tabs would turn yellow. The tabs would break and the flap would rattle. That's the problem with not securing them closed is the rattling/bouncing.

I hope the R/V industry do Not adopt the policy of changing things that turn (Yellow) with something different (Shape)! Walk around a C/G and look at the (Yellow) things on a R/V. Doors, window trim, refer vent cover,O/S shower door, tailights & lic. plate bracket, O/S door light, motor cover on tongue jack-if white, ect. Youroo!!

On some of the FR product lines they have gone to black trim. My AC, all window and door trim, hitch light, speakers, fridge vents, stove vent, water heater door, baggage door clips, water and cable connection covers and other stuff are all black. This might keep them from turning yellow (with the exception of the metal water heater door), but I wonder if this black stuff will eventually fade. I like the way it looks now, but don't know what will happen later.

Even my skylight is black on the outside but looks white from the inside and lets in a lot of light.
