The cab overhang on class Cs really kills AM reception, FM not as bad, but since most of my listening is on AM, on my new build 2860DS I paid the extra $$ to have FR put my cab radio antenna on the coach roof. Big improvement in AM reception.

Radio Reception - BAD
Not only does Forest River continue to use the fender mounted antenna under the cab on the Ford E-450,,, I believe they cut 10 to 12 inches off !!!
The sad thing is they will not admit the antenna could be the problem ???
They went as far replacing our Magnadyne system,,, still not much better !!!
There is a perfectly good antenna on the roof for the outside radio,,, if they would just hook the dash radio to that,,, they could make several thousands of Class C owners happy !!!
Does any know of any type antenna that would work,,, under the cab ???
THANKS !!!

We can't really cut the antenna...that is what comes from Ford. It could possibly be a shorter antenna as an option but if you look at the units when they come from Ford, that is the antenna that is on them.
As for tying into a roof mount antenna, It's probably not all that simple. You have to get from the dash, down and over to where the outside TV is. The roof mount antenna for that system probably feeds straight down that wall into the back of the radio. You could certainly pull the radio and a speak, try to fish an antenna wire down under the unit and then back up into the dash.
Do they make a Y-adaptor for radio antennas?

I have a 2012 model with the standard Jensen JRV 210 radio and short antennae. I have not noticed any problems with reception. Because of this post I just checked using the seek function and have 45 strong FM stations with the RV while inside a steel pole building garage. The dash radio seems to work as well or better than the outside radio. I think the problem may be more with the newer radios than the short antennae.
Not sure about the newer Jensens but based on the posts in this forum the Magnadyne system seems to have a lot of issues.
The 210s are still available new for less than $200 so they aren't too costly to replace the current units but may require some mods to work with the newer entertainment system configurations.

Its a signal reducer for when in town so high power, stations don't bleed on each other.. but on the road reduces signal strength to all stations, so they come in weaker. Not technical terms but what it does...

"Check settings. Make sure traffic notification is turned off" I'm not sure why this would work but I am willing to give it a try also.. On our 1st shake down cruise, my better half and I looked at each other and commented "the radio doesn't work too good" I don't listen to the radio to much anymore anyway. Unless its the Eagles, Fleetwood mac, with Stevie Nicks of course. Tina Turner... she can still strut across a stage with the best of them. Late 60's to late 90's bands are my speed... Like my dad (who's 89) told me 40 years ago "This new music stuff sucks" Boy was he right for his time LOL ... My grandkids don't get it LOL

I'm either XM or streaming music. Once you go there...its hard to go back and deal with commercials.

Yes. Antenna Y adapters are readily available at auto parts stores. I bought one last year and "one of these days" I plan to try to install it! I've had limited access to our RV since it's been at the dealer getting (waiting mostly) warranty work done since April 5!!

"Check settings. Make sure traffic notification is turned off" can't find this for some reason... In the GPS section?
Thanks
