Victron

It has been an electricfiying weekend. Repaced the WFCO with a PD (188$), put a new strap of the gen exhaust (15$), serviced the batts, and working on a BVM-702 victron install.

Heads up, the posts of the victron shunt requires a No. 2 size battery lug so I changed out the smaller factory neg terminal to a part I found at Tractor Supply (traveler crimp style # 0475310). Also using an additional 2ga 18" cable with a new swapped out end. M6 metric bolts best fits the shunt bolts holes, 1/4 wont work.

I do know better to check parts before teardown, but I didnt....

Pics to folllow in the album at a later time when the rains set im.

I just finished my BVM-712 install. Those shunt bolts are just a little bigger than expected. Was a real pain to rat-tail file the cable lug hole a little larger.
You'll really appreciate the wealth of info you get out of that Victron unit.

install complete

Buttoned everything up, done. But have yet to harvest any info from the unit, seems to do everthing short of knitting socks. The 702 is not the bluetooth unit and it seems a bit wonky scrolling across the display.. Need to find a camper on our next trip out to run the system thru the paces.

Or are there any guru's out there care to educate this old boy? Ytube seemed to be a bust..

I got the Bluetooth dongle for my 702. Kinda wish I waited for the 712.. if only I'd have known. Though the only thing it would give me is remote voltage for my solar controller.

I need to figure out how to set it up for new batteries... 420ah 6v.....

It's actually 3/8" bolt so you use a 3/8" lug. Not even sure what a #2 size battery lug is!

At least that's the case on a BMV-712 and I believe the shunt for it is identical.

Your right. I did not measure it, just eyeballed the holes on lugs on the rack and ran back to the house. Went right to the Batt section, should have stopped in the welding section..

Installed the doggle for the 702 a few weeks back. Wish to report that I love, love this remote read out. Range about 30' while inside the house. Now have to set the parameters for the coach, so who's gon'a stop by the house and show me?

Check out YouTube. Several videos on setting up Victron devices.

Nice thing about getting help from YouTube, you get the help you need and nobody drinks up all your beer.
