Video of winterizing my Sunseeker
On the suction side of the water pump is a strainer with a clear bowl type screw on cap. This strainer doesn't drain so I pull off the cap and let it leak out. Some have not done this only to find the strainer cap cracked the next Spring.
I blow out my lines with a compressor first, then flush with antifreeze same as you. I don't pull my hw heater anode every time since I used air to blow water out.
I also pull my water filter and put an empty water bottle in the housing so I don't waste antifreeze filling the housing.
Nice video!

Wesslvm, glad you pointed out the strainer with a clear bowl type screw on cap on the side of the water pump. I used the air method a week ago and finally went out and checked that clear cap today. It was half full. Took a set of channel locks to get it off but I did it without breaking it. Also opened the blue low point line again and a little more water came out. This will be our first season winterizing this unit. Been winterizing our Winnebago for years using the air method and no problems.

There is a tool for removing the water filter container. It's probably in one of your kitchen cupboards. It's white and round with a handle. It looks like a plastic lemon juicer with hollow middle. Most people have no idea what it is when they get their RV!

MNtraveler, I was always wondering what that was for. Thx for the heads up. Won't be using channel locks anymore.

Winterizing - if I don't have that plastic tube
Thanks for the video. Instead of hooking up antifreeze to the pump, can I just pour a few gallons of antifreeze into the freshwater tank and then run the pump to circulate it that way?

You can do that, but I believe it will be a big job to rinse your fresh water tank out when you de-winterize. You will really have to do a lot of rinsing to get all the antifreeze out of the FW tank.

You can do that but it takes a lot of extra effort and water to get all of the antifreeze out of the fresh water tank in the spring. It won't hurt you to drink it but it does have a taste and color of course.

And there is no reason for antifreeze in the FW tank since you can drain it. So, go by the video method and you will be a happier camper!

Thanks for the replies. The SunSeeker manual actually says to pour the anti-freeze in the FW tank. However, I realized there was actually already a hose attached to the pump that can be used for this purpose (at least I think that is what it is for) so I was able to suck the antifreeze into the pump directly.
The video and quick responses were really helpful I had not winterized it myself before but was in a bit of a hurry because we had de-winterized and a freeze was coming. I was able to sleep better having been able to get it rewinterized - this forum is really helpful.

The Forest River owners manual also says to do that. It's just bad advice. I can't imagine why they included it and haven't pulled it out by now.
