Ok...we are 3000 feet so his theory is not right. Also...you can order those filters and have them shipped to the local store....thus no shipping. Mine fit just perfect.

Bypass water purification system????

I have a Forest River Forester 3171. I just discovered that my Water Purification housing is broken. I never really wanted an internal one to begin with. Does anyone know how I can just bypass the whole system and just use an external one like I used to? When I had it winterized last fall the people that did it broke the housing but I just discovered it today when I was going to dewinterize it....

I bypassed mine. You can use pex fittings but you must have the crimping tool. If you don't want to spend the money for the tool(not cheap) you can use Sharkbite fittings that don't require any special tools and work great. Mine took a "T" for one line, a coupler and piece of tubing for the other line. I now just mount an external filter on my bumper when I set up. Easy to get to and can remove the filter after each trip.

bypass water filtration system

Just started to De Winterize my 8285WS, and discovered my Water Pur CCI-10-CLW Broken at the top, Sheared right at the threads. I did find a bypass kit, that is a plate you put in at the top of the canister housing, no water gets into the main housing, My parts catalog call it a Winterizing By-Pass Plate by Flowmatic 15 dollars., I have used filter inserts from Home Depot, and Menards there interchangeable with the same one's my house uses. As long as the threads are the same I think i'll find a replacement at the local camper stores. The CW store near me said this has happened a lot this winter, and they didn't have any replacement housings, but I could replace the whole thing for 40 bucks.

Just ordered the part from Pur Water, CCI-10-CLW, $30.00, BUT shipping to me was $11.50.. I guess it a cheap lesson learned, as it clearly states on the filter housing " Keep from Freezing" so the next one comes inside for the long cold Minnesota Winters. I was fine for the last 4 years, but I guess this past one was extra cold. Here is a link to there site:
