Water pump bowl leak

We found a leak next to the water pump - what we found was the water bowl which I guess is to trap debris is leaking. The bowl is almost facing down and it seems to be dripping through the wire mesh - I heard back from forest river and they said to replace it. Is this easy to do with out breaking something? Also does the water need to be drained from the system and finally it's facing down was it installed correctly? Thanks

Did you screw it tight first to see if leaks stops?

If the unit is old enough to go thru a winter. Well then maybe it was not drained at that little screen filter correctly. That could cause it to have a crack in the cap from freezing.

Water bowl

No I did not try to tighten it , do you mean the plastic cap? With my luck I'll break it. Also the unit is 6 months old - and while I did winterize it I didn't read anything about the water bowl. The bowl is facing almost down is that correct? Does the whole piece need replacement? Thanks for the help

Yes the clear plastic. Only medium strength hand tight. No wrenches need to be used. Just tightening is maybe all it needs.

But if that does not fix it then maybe the clear part is cracked. You would most likely need to drain the fresh water tank and take the cap off to inspect closer and the seal.

If it is not cracked then unit needs to be replaced.

Thanks I will try tonight and let you know how it goes. Is it possible though to just leave the water pump off and open a few faucets to release pressure? Or do I need to drain the system thanks again

Leave pump off and take apart....there will be no pressure as it is on the intake side of pump.....but just open a faucet for piece of mind.

That filter should be between the tank and pump. If the bowl is cracked just replace the bowl from the new filter, not he whole filter. These are not expensive and readily available.

The filter bowl and the water pump chamber are the two items in the water system that are not winterized when only blowing out lines and not adding antifreeze. Not saying the compressed air method is not effective, only that these two items must be addressed separately.
