Weird fresh water tank fill?
Ok, this is my first class C, but my 5th or 6th RV. All previous RV's had a screw in ( hose) fresh water tank fill. My 2500TS has a "port" where you aim the hose and fill until it over flows. It kind of works, but I'm uncomfortable with this setup. Anyone modify this opening?

What you are describing is exactly what my trailer has. I bought the Camco filler gizmo and have been happy with it.
Bought mine from a big box store for less than what it is going for on Amazon...

I have the same setup with that hose adapter.
I've never had to modify the opening but I have needed to replace the hose clamp on the inside because the hose was leaking during a fill.

I would be careful about putting full water line pressure on the FW tank. I have had 4 motor homes and 4 trailers over the years and none of them had screwed connections on the FW tank. The tank is not rated for pressure and you could rupture the tank or blow off a hose and make a huge mess. In order to do this safely would require a vent hose off the top of the tank, that would also act as a prevention of over pressure of the tank.

Do you mean this
or this?
That's all I have ever had. The small hole with the screen is a vent. As the tank fills the displaced air escapes there. When the tank is full, water starts spitting out.

I have a 2018 Isata 3 RW and it does have an overflow hose on top of the fresh water tank so there's no issue with filling the fw tank. However when you are dry camping and you fill you fw tank full, when you drive down the road you lose about a quarter of your fresh water form water moving around and going out overflow hose. I thought about putting a turn off valve on the overflow hose but with my luck I'd forget to open it when running the pump.

The “port” that the OP described is the only type I’ve ever had. As mentioned, air vents out the hole next to the port. I just shove a water hose in the port and fill to the desired level. The hose stays in place by itself on mine. If I want the tank full, I fill until water shots out, then put the cap on after the pressure has relieved itself. I’ve never had a problem with it.

Same as above. I have the same set up as post #5. I made my own fill tube with a 5/8 tube on a 90 degree barbed fitting to connext to the garden hose ouet on my filter. I just stick it in the fill port and let it rip till water comes out.

I'm on my 4th trailer. All 4 of them have had fresh water gravity fill ports as shown in post #5
