What AWG is the wiring to the batteries 3050S?

Hi,

I was hoping someone already knows the answer without my having to repeat the research.

I'm installing a battery monitor with a shunt installed on the negative cable coming off the batteries.

I need to know what size wire to use to create a short jumper from the batteries to the shunt. Also what lug size?

Can anybody help? I'm guessing #4 AWG.

I'm thinking this will do the job:

Can't answer your questions but I bought battery cables to modify our Boy Scout Troop bus at NAPA. They have a variety of sizes, lengths, and terminals. Other good auto parts stores should have a selection. Won't have to deal with delivery. NAPA also had terminals for soldering onto cables. This allows you to make up exactly what you need. I used these and bought cables the lengths I needed to fit the modifications I did.

I just checked a deep cycle battery I have in my shop. The threaded battery posts for cable lugs are 5/16 inch diameter. Sorry but our RV is in storage so I can't check the cable conductor size.

Ended up going with #2 AWG and 5/16 lug which fit the battery but not the 500A shunt. Had to "hog" the other lugs to fit the shunt.
