The difference would be too small to worry about IMHO but I think the generator would burn more fuel. But, again, it's statistically insignificant if you want to be comfortable.

My approach is use the dash air most of the time. By opening a rear roof vent a small amount you can pull a bunch of cold air back from the cab. If it's really hot, turn on the generator and run them both.

In all honestly, I'd rather burn a little more fuel to keep everyone comfortable.

I agree... If you are looking to get a class C or A gas... expect between 7 and 12... It all depends on how much you carry, and how you drive. And is up hill both ways like in the old days?. I like to drive a 3010ds around 70 mph about half load. 9.5 to 10.5.

Enjoy

MPG's will improve after 10k miles.. Mine did. Believe it or not, last long trip got anywhere between 8.3 and 9.2. Yep, 3500lb toad.

I do it everyday on the road just prior to "jacks downs" and have always averaged under the hundred in budget per travel day. Point is I don't track mpg on the coach, I am on holiday....
Amen!

Sorry. Ok I will give you more info on our unit. It's a Sunseeker 3010ds 32 feet long and weighs in at 12,000 lbs dry. We get 8.6 MPG most of the time on level ground.

2016 3170DS -

First fill after 300 mile trip averaged 8.94, didn't tow or run generator or cab A/C.

Second fill after several short trips to tire shop and then 150 mile round trip for a lacrosse tourney I was at 7.2. Ran the generator for a little over 2 hours and the dash A/C for about the same.

Third fill - 300 miles most in traffic or backroads. Ran generator for about an hour, cab A/C for about 2 hours, 7.97.

On open highway I'm in between 65 and 70 MPH, thought other than the first trip there hasn't been too much of that.

Pretty impressive results on here. On our 3170 with 6000 miles on it pulling a Jeep Liberty we averaged 6.7 mpg on a round trip from Dallas to San Diego. I maybe a little bit of a lead foot but 70 mph was about as hard as we pushed it. Lots of climbing though.
