which is the best road side asistance to get.

hello again everyone ,just wanted to thank you all again for all the great info on vegas. it was very helpful.
Now for our next dilemma, not sure which road side assistance would be better. Need one good for Canada and the USA . we had coach-net, but let it expire last year. I see lots of good sam advertisements and thought maybe they are more recognized. Any thoughts on either one of these ore any other road sides for rv;s would be greatly appreciated. happy camping everyone.
ps. just had another 15 centimetres of snow so there is no rush. can verily see the motorhome in the back yard.

Had been with Allstate/KOA for over 15 years. Had to have a Class A motorhome towed got authorization to have the tow, but I had to pay in advance. I was told I would be reimbursed but never received the reimbursement. Ended up costing me just under $1,000 out of pocket.

Second time I tried to use them for a tire issue and they let me down once again. I am now with Good Sam, have used them one time and it went perfect.

I have had horrible problems with AAA, lost serious money. Good Sam is the best. AAA is not one thing, it is a big bunch if separate things and they each have their own rules. I live near Rochester NY and had an accident near Cheyenne, WY. Months of lies later they would not pay the hotel bill because we checked in at 12:15 am and out at 7:30 to find someone to fix the car. Because we checked in before midnight and out in less than 8hours, no money for trip interruption. Rochester said they would have paid but hey had to go by the local rules where the incident was. Also they wanted to leave the small trailer on the roadside because they did not cover it. Fortunately the tow truck guy put it on his flatbed for no more money.

I have never been treated by any company as badly as I have by AAA!

My 2 cents. Only two Emergency Roadside Services are designed for and dedicated to the RVer, Coach-Net and Good Sam ERS. Back in 2008 when my truck broke down on I-70 in Colorado Good Sam ERS found a shop that could repair my truck and additionally they found a place to set up our trailer while the truck was being repaired.

one thing to keep in mind is that neither Good Sam, AAA, Coach-Net, etc, owns a tow truck. They all have towing services as "members" to help them provide their service. These "members" have a long list of criteria to meet, but doesn't mean they are going to follow the rules 100%. That is why you will hear good and bad stories about all of them.

thank you for your input everyone. Enconcapt thank you for sharing you experience with AAA. tried to check AAA;s web sight and couldn't get on, it wanted my zip code. I'm in Canada, only a postal code. I think I will give GOOD SAM a try. They seem like there set up good for both Canada and the USA.

If you have a Ford chassis it comes with 3 years roadside assistance free. Of course it only covers the chassis and drive line not any problems with the coach.

If you are in Canada check CAA it is the Canadian side of AAA. I have CAA RV plus, would not leave home without it. Had to use twice while towing once I ran out of gas(northern Ontario, did not realize there were no gas stations for over 120 miles.) The second had a bearing go while on the highway in BC (received slow service because of lack of communication by dispatcher). CAA gave me a year free for inconvenience.

We have AAA plus RV. The good side of that is that it covers all our vehicles all the time. Fortunately we've never had to use the service when we have been a trip, but we have used it several times over the years while at home/work and always gotten good service.

We did get a renewal offer from coach-net when our one year free service was coming to an end. I thought their price looked very reasonable - was $79 for the basic which didn't cover much and like $129 for the premium which offered a lot of coverage for the price. Again - never used them, so don't know how their service is, but sure seemed like a fair price.

Happy Holidayer,

I have been in Good Sam for the last few years. I've called them out 4 times and have been happy with the service.

2 calls for t fiver tire failures - first time was on the TCH outside Edmundston, NB at 1900 on Friday of the Thanksgiving weekend and they had a serviceman out me within 45 mins. Second time was West Palm Beach on the I 95' and again within 30 mins had the serviceman there.

The only time I was towed was around home here in NS when the water pump blew.

The last time was about 80 km from home heading down south last month. The hose clamp on the top rad hose rusted off. It was 0900 on a Saturday morning in Feb. I had a clamp so I did the repair, but I needed coolant. They could tow me no problems, but getting the coolant was more difficult. The tow would have been 100 km to the nearest Canadian Tire. Anyway, long story short, I had a friend nearby who helped out with minimum delay.

So all in all I can say they helped out and I will renew with them. The big thing for me is they will tow you and your trailer.

Andy

I had AAA and switched to GS, have not have a problem they are specialist when it comes to RV'S not and add on like AAA. They also cover your everyday car just as AAA. GS has some great plans depending on what you want and need. AAA sent a guy out in his car with no jack and asked if I had a jack. If I had a jack why would i even call them. GET GOOD SAM's worries are over with both cars and tt, 5ers and MH.

This is a good topic. My Coach-Net will expire soon. I live in Massachusetts.
Mass AAA does NOT support RV's. I have AAA for our car but can't get RV support.
I subscribe to Trailer Life and MotorHome. There are many Good Sam adds in both. I have seen nothing for Coach-Net. After reading this thread Good Sam seems to be the way to go.

Sam

We go with Sam after trying AAA et al. Sam covers husband and wife w/o extra charge, moreover Sam saved me on a dark rainy Xmas Eve when the timing belt failed on my truck in Mathews County, the second smallest county in VA. It took a couple of hours to find some one and get him out there, but they kept trying, and they succeeded. We've had to use them before and they had always come through, but Xmas Eve in Mathews county made me a believer.

That was a surprize not that the service you got but Mathews County. Melinda Moran your County admin. was our Town manager here in Clarksville Va. I'm on the Town Council here and worked with her for many years. If you ever see her please give her my best. It is a small world.....
