Which transmission do I have?

As a stickler on preventative maintenance I also prefer to change my own transmission fluid on a regular basis.
Our 2010 E450 with the V-10 has a transmission pan without a drain plug and I would like to order a pan with a drain plug.
How can I find out which pan to order for this transmission?
Thanks.

Take your VIN or the vehicle to your local Ford dealer. Bribe the service supervisor with a small box of donuts and he will tell you everything you want to know about your cab & chassis vehicle. Order a deep pan finned aluminum replacement w/ drain plug & additional fluid capacity from ATS. Mine now holds 6 more quarts than standard.

While your at it replace the rear end differential cover (which also has magnetic drain & fill plugs) and add 3 additional quarts. Shouldn't have any problems with these two systems again. Remove the fill plug periodically and wipe away the metal debris that flows from the axle tubes as you travel. NOW you're a stickler reference drive train maintenence!

Get on the internet and go to the Ford factory site. You will find a page there to enter your VIN, and it will tell you everything you want to know about your truck.
Good luck!

Ford ETIS is a Ford website that will give you a high level breakdown of your vehicle. See Here. Just enter your vehicles VIN and you'll have a couple pages of info on it....

See if there is a DERALE transmission pan available for your tranny ...
these include a drain plug and some models, a temp sensor port. They are much deeper, and have air cooling tubes which can really help dissipate heat.
Our application is a heavily re-built Dodge 46RE and it helps a lot on the hot days.
DO get a heavy-duty gasket separately, the pans come with an unsatisfactory cork one from factory. But the build quality and function is excellent.
