Winter travel in motorhome

We recently purchased a 2019 Sunseeker 3040ds. Living in the
Northwoods, we would like to head south in January. Any tips from your experiences doing this? Unsure about rewinterizing before returning home.... find dealer or do it ourselves.?

We have lately been traveling south to the Gulf from the Midwest for a couple weeks in the winter. If we can make it back home avoiding freezing weather, I re-winterize as soon as we get home. Otherwise I just do it at the last above-freezing campsite on the way home. (I don’t let dealers touch any of my toys).

Other than that, winter travel is mostly about timing to avoid bad weather.

New to Sunseeker

I just got my Sunseeker and did the walk through yesterday. I was surprised to find that they provided a hose to place in the antifreeze to winterize the unit. It will make winterization simple. Hopefully you have such a hose and can easily do the same.

Even if we are in the south I always have RV antifreeze with us. Two years ago in Charleston we got 6 inches of snow and temps stayed in the 20s for 4 days.
It's easier to winterize/unwinterize than to replace any plumbing.
We travel south from 1 Nov to 1 May each year. I've only had to winterize once.

where south?

it is pretty easy to winterize prior to leaving from the south. A small air compressor can blow the lines dry then add the anti. I actually only anti the 12 volt pump and the drain trps after prudging the lines (leaving them all open for storage). Dont forget the outside shower...

Where south are you headed?

We traveled to Florida last winter in a storm going through DC and on the way back through Pa. I had a crate with 4 bottles of antifreeze in the tub that we used to flush the toilet, inexpensive to purchase in Florida, Used bottle water for drinking and brushing teeth. That's when we decided it was time to trade it in for something a little larger and more comfortable. Now life is a bed of roses, Love to travel in the winter, trying to get the wife to consent to go to Alaska by way of the Alcan.
