Amazon pop up - something new here?

In the last few days a new issue has popped up when reading these forums.

A new Amazon pop up game called ‘Spin The Wheel’ or something like that.

It has been doing this both on my iPad and Android phone, but am away from home without the laptop, so I don’t know if it is doing that on a computer.

This only happens after I click on an email link from a post here at this chat board only.

This does not happen from any other link in my emails, which leads me to believe that it has to be from here somehow.

There is now way to close this spin wheel thing other that to close out the whole page, then click on the email link again and the FR page comes up without the spin wheel game.

Just thought I’d bring this up to the powers that be.

Mine does that also, random like. Open a second page of a thread and it pops up. Only on this site.

The only way I can figure to get past it is to close page and reopen.

I have been going through the same thing. It’s only on this site.

At least I now know that it isn’t just me as usually when this kinda thing happens we get told to ‘run our antivirus software’.

Me Too

This only happens to me when I open this site with Safari on my iPhone. It doesn’t happen with my iPad or my PC. It completely hijacks the page, requiring me to shut down Safari and try again, but it is persistent and happens the next time I open up this site.

I quit using Safari on my iPhone for this site and started using the Forest River Forums App and I have no problems, except I much prefer the browser version than the App version.

Same way with me and on other sites as well! Amazon only! It’s enough for us to stop using Amazon!

I just called Amazon and got a live person! Go into your settings! Go to Amazon! Disable notifications! Then you will learn if it is Amazon or phishing going on! Dan

Same problem

I had the same problem with “You’ve won a $1000.00 gift certificate” to Amazon ...yadda yadda yadda. Got it on Facebook too. & had to turn my iPhone off to get rid of that nasty ness. I downloaded an app called “1Blocker” that allows me to enter even part of the offending url and NO MORE SPAMMER! It was somehow satisfying to think I was directly blocking their efforts to find me gullible enough to believe their crap! Use whatever works & spread the word!

Don't blame Amazon. It's not them.

I reported this issue and have been trying to get to the root of the problem. It seems to me that Google is the culprit. If you look closely you will see a very small x or arrow symbol in some of the adds or popups. Click on the x and the add closes and a message saying "Ad closed by Google etc. etc." appears.

I read this forum daily on an iMac and Safari. Malware and Ad Blocker have not stopped the adds or popups completely.

The Forest River Forums seems to be having more of this problem than other forums I read.

I use uBlock Origin and have never seen ANY ads (popup or embedded) on my Windows 10 devices with Chrome browser. I see embedded ads on my Android phone (Chrome browser).

This is delivered via ads targeted at iphone users (safari) and is essentially a cookie set as you surf by the advertiser so they can show you more garbage. These ads are served up by google, and others and we have no real control or ability to block them.

Doing a reboot (which purges cookies) offers some short term relief but is not a real solution.

You can also configure safari to block some of these. Here's some help wit that: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203987

Not to pile on but this bogus Amazon pop up has been bothering me for a couple of months.

Ad Block does not stop it.

I thought Google Adsense lets you block specific advertisers?

Thanks but I didn’t find uBlock in the Apple app store. Maybe just for Windows and or Android.
