Ask The Factory Forum
Has any thought been given to asking Forest River to join in on a forum where Forest River owners could post questions about their particular RV that could be best answered by a factory rep. I have seen other manufacturers do this and it seemed to work well.

Good idea !! I had got too close to the hook that holds your door open on my TT with my snow thrower and "snap" broke it off. i tried to get a new one ,thru forest river and had luck .. but it seems they would have rather have had me call a dealer instead

If the way we treat Bob Fields (Concertone Rep) is any indication of how we would treat "Out of the Closet" FR Reps, I doubt there would be any answers to post questions.

X6, I have read how people have treated him, and he is only trying to help. Has he been around in awhile?

I agree with the above .... If we have any representatives, they indeed need to be treated politely and diplomatically. Poor Bob really does not deserve the treatment he is getting when all he is trying to do is help US out ....
I will make a point of asking my factory contact when I see her in May if they even know about our little forum over here and maybe point them at the forum. If they show any inclination of even reading the forum, I will let our resident glorified bus/truck driver know about it Maybe we can establish something ....

Well said Lou and Goomph. we need to be a lot nicer to the guys that are willing to help us out. I just don't see them doing it because of liability. I've met a lot of the guys at the factory from the plant manager, warranty manager and the guys who do the repairs and they are all very good people who like all of us go to work and do the best they can and don't deserve to be "beat up" on a forum.

Factory reps
Where i retired from Wayne assembly plant ,Now Michigan assembly, Ford Focus 2012 & other vehicles that will be made from the "C" platform. We had and still have liasons (Hourly and Salary ) with the dealers and employees ..that have any quality issues . once in a while something can be caught and corrected very quickly.. some issues a little longer.. But ALWAYS trying to make a better vehicle = A happier owner..

If FR would be willing to answer questions here, the problem of posters abusing them is quite simple, ban them from the site, and post that they were banned. It wouldn't take long for people to smarten up.
I have had nothing but great responses from Flagstaff.

It's a nice concept.....but I doubt FR will go for it.
It is best to contact either your dealer, or FR directly with any questions you might have.
There are so many different lines of FR products out there......it would turn into one BIG headache very easily.

If it's something that FR would agree too, we would need some established rules for posting to the dealers that are willing to help. The negative comments would be dealt with. It seems in Bob Fields example, he was really trying to help customers deal with the problems, and he was being hit with all kinds of negative comments. I hope we see him back here. I have only owned my TT for two weeks, but so far my concertone is working good.

i like the banning idea , its not like these guys are the ones making the bad or faulty equipment they are just trying to get an understanding to improve products.so many times someone will post a question and get slammed and we never see them again- a liitle off subject. i dont post often but i do enjoy reading all the post.

It might give FR some idea of the problems people are having and maybe they can start a quality assurance departmant.

There have been some good points made. The manufacturer of my previous 5th wheel actually started the forum and welcome suggestions to build a better product as well as responding to issues that owners were having, however there were rules to following and one major rule was that posts were not made that were bashing the reps or the products. They had a fairly large line of products and a lot of improvements were made based on the suggestions submitted. The product owners were willing to help them make produce a better recreational vehicle. I would hope that FR and FR product owners whether TT's or DP's would strive to end up with a better RV.

If FR reps were on the site and saw the problems that were occurring, it might help them identify problems with their manufacturing process. If it helps them build a better product, it would cut down on warranty claims and increase their profits. JMHO

Agreed wholeheartedly ! We love our FR's and want the new owners to have an even better experience ! I have a few things I observed I will try to bring to their attention, I hope they will be receptive, or at least put me in touch with someone who has a sympatethic ear to what we are trying to achieve.
