Choking to death

I'm afraid that the number of posts that show up in a single day are beginning to overwhelm me. I use the "new posts" filter, and, even if it's less than 24 hours since I last posted, there can be 400 or more new posts.

I might have to abandon the forum because of the overload. The time to go through all those posts is too much. I'm having the same problem with irv2.com and may end up dropping that one also.

Success, when measured solely by the number of participants, can have negative consequences.

Don't try to read them all. No way to keep up when some folks are looking for help and some people are using the forum as a twitter account. I get on and look at my CP to see if there are any new replies to posts I have contributed to. I then look at a few pages of new posts to see if there is anything I can contribute too. If I don't have anything to contribute I try not to reply.

Don't give up, use it for your enjoyment and help fellow campers when you can. Ignore sarcastic responses, they are not worth your time.

I generally do about the same- I jump through the New Posts page looking at titles that jump out to me. There's no way to read it all!

I keep up with responses to old posts and check in a few times a day if I can. I typically stay to the current list on the right and don't go back through the pages of new posts.

Same thing here. Can't read them all and that thing called Life gets in the way, too.

I check my subscriptions, answer PMs and then scan quickly and read only the ones that are of interest at the time. I pay attention to some favorite sub forums, too. But, its still only a relatively small portion of new threads, though. That's okay with me as there's only so much time.

I use the Quick Links and mark the forum as read several times a day and move on.

Same here. I go back and check some other posts I may be posting in or following for the answer.

I can understand that- I still read a lot, but I'm lucky to be able to check in for a few minutes at a time during the day.

Trying to Moderate the board is a full time job being handled by campers who also "have a life." Without the membership helping to police the board, it would be impossible.

The "report Post" button is our friend.

Like trying to read all the books in the library, just not enough time...I usually log on in the evenings and check the "recent discussions" for anything interesting and topics I subscribed to and pass on the rest.
