Editing Thread

I would like to edit my thread in the classifieds, but I haven't been able to figure it out. The instructions state to pick on the "edit" button near the thread, but I don't see any "edit" button.

You only get a limited time to edit.
Contact a mod to edit your post.
They'll turn it back on.

Rather than start a new topic, I'll tack my question onto here:

Whenever I edit my posts I am asked "reason for editing" although the reason never shows on the post.
Is that just a function of this site's particular operating system or is editing something to be discouraged for whatever reason? (ie bandwidth issues -I'm not the most computer literate guy around)

Sometimes I give a reason for editing and sometimes I don't.
It asks for a reason but your answer is probably only visible to moderators.
(Remember we didn't write the software, we just use it
It's entirely up to you if you want to give a reason.

There is a time limit so you have only so long to edit your post.
After that we can turn it back on or do the edit for you.

I don't mind giving a reason, I was just concerned that, for some reason, using the edit function was to be discouraged (perhaps for some computer issue beyond my understanding).
Generally, I find that people asking me to explain why I wish to do something (ie: purchase a handgun, unhook a brassiere, etc etc) tend to disapprove of whatever it is I'm trying to do.

Just another unarmed, unloved, browbeaten Canuck -but, by God, my spelling will be perfect!

The reasons stated can be a clue if more information or photos were added or if typos were just corrected.

I haven't seen or heard of any posts being denied based on editing reason.
