I was trying to update my profile using my phone and was not able to find the edit button. Is it typical that some of the functions are not available in the mobile format?

Yes, it is not feasible to put everything in a streamlined mobile app format. Now, you can still use your phone, but will need to use the full website on your browser to accomplish certain things.

I have a similar issue: I do have messaging notifications enabled on both my IPad 1 and my iPhone 6s , and I use the mobile application for the FR Forum on both devices, so I wonder why I am not receiving notices when someone pm's me? I love this forum, but I've missed many messages because of this glitch. Can't be my spam filters, because I get other notifications. Should I also use the website to enable push notifications ?

Go to your User CP and check your settings.
