Google “congratulations” pop-up scam/spam from FRF web site?

This happened three times in a row. First after accessing FRF web site from a link in the emailed FRF newsletter that came out today. Using iPhone Safari. I cleared Safari website data and rebooted. Same outcome. I cleared Safari website data and rebooted. Same outcome.

Anyone else seeing this?

Note this was directly on the FRF website not the app.

Yup same here. Most likely coming from an ad on the page.

It's a security hole in the websites code. It allows nefarious sites to set popups that you can't (or it's hard to) close. It's mostly prevalent on mobile versions of sites.

I don’t have anything like this on my laptop or my smartphone. I guess my Adblocker is stopping it.

Please make it stop. My iPad is okay, but it makes my iPhone unusable.

This is a known issue that affects primarily IOS users. It's an ad and you've picked up some adware on your device that causes this to fire when you login.

The solution is to clear cache and cookies and then do a restart. It will solve the problem for a while until you surf around the web and pick up the same tracking cookie again.

A free method of adblocking for windows is available at: Blocking Unwanted Connections with a Hosts File

I've been using this for a while and am happy with the results. Only real negative I've found is related to doing a Google or Bing search. Clicking on results that are listed as ads do not work. Reason is, you aren't going directly to the destination, you are first stopping at a site that logs your visit and causes a bill to where you did want to go. You can get around this issue by copying the address and pasting it into the address bar on your browser.

A similar solution for Apple lovers is at: https://github.com/2ndalpha/gasmask

There is also a version for Linux users. Check the Windows site for a link.

What both of these solutions does, is redirect requests for ads and such to url address 127.0.0.1. This is effectively your computer, so the ad requests go nowhere and do not load. I suspect the paid ad blocking software effectively does the same thing. If using one of these tools and you start getting ads you don't want, you have to download and install a new file to add the new addresses. The user community does maintain the files. Nice thing about this solution, you can look thru the file to verify that there isn't anything evil in it.

And who said the Apple products are immune from adware and viruses?

Must be the hacksters are getting tired of Windows users...

Had it last night as well, works fine from my PC.. Just my Phone. So If Im using my phone and need advice for RV related tasks I simply go to the other site and not this one.. If im on my PC Ill stay here. This is absolutely the only site I have ever frequented that does it, and more than once.
