Limitations on PMs

Compared to other forums that I frequent, I noticed that the Forest River Forums have a rather low Private Message count limit of 50. If you're engaging people privately to any extent, this quota can be reached rather quickly. What is the rationale for such a low number? Do these messages really take up so much space? As opposed to nonsensical, off-topic threads like "Keep a word, change a word" and "Cute Jokes", is space really an issue, or is it something else?

The forum default is like 50 messages for the received and sent.

You can make other folders and move your messages there to clear up the 50 count.. You can even download them off-site if you want.

I'll show you how when I get to a computer this evening.

To make new folders to move your messages to, using the full website, go to user cp...then under private messages, use the edit folders feature.

Then on that screen make you some new folders to move your messages to. Make sure to save them.Click image for larger version

Still using the full site, go to your private messages list and use the check box to select ones you want to move to other folders or even to download. You will have the option to do this later.

Then scroll down to the bottom of the list and use the dropdown box to select what you want to do with the message or messages. If you move to folder, you will have an option to move them to the folders you created above, which clears them out of your inbox or sent folder...thus clearing them up for new messages. Click the go button after you decide what option you want Click image for larger version

So that still doesn't answer the question of why the count is limited to 50. If space is not the issue, what then?
