new forum section ?

I think we need a few new forum section or sections .

1) audio visual tech

2) electrical tech

3) appliance tech

Am I the only one that thinks any of these would work ?

i see no need for specific tech sections like these.

a lot of us camp without audio-visual devices. that's why we camp, to get away from them.
not saying that anythings wrong with that, just that a lot us don't use them when camping.
now if i was full-timing, then that would be a different thing.

even the internet RV monster, RV.net, doesn't have such sub-forums.
remember, the mods are volunteer and have enough cries for new sections, like Coachmen and A-frame trailers.

heres my point .......

how many times a day does someone ask about hw heaters or converters or specific items .
today I believe there were at least 3 if not 4 hw heater questions . Most people DO NOT know hot to use the search to find 104 posts of the same questions.

so if there were a few item specific sections they might see the question they were going to ask and read the post ......

just my opinion ......... It was worth a try .

If not item specific sections at least maybe more stickys on questions asked every day if not 10 times a day .

food for thought ...... I see your point to

My thoughts

1) Most folks do not even look at what forum they are in when they post.

2) Keeping water heater questions IN the water heater section would be some one's full time job.

3) VERY few search the forum (or google for that matter) to answer their question before starting a new thread or just hijacking some one else's thread for their own question.

4) We spent a few months rebuilding the forum structure to be model specific in order to be sure folks who own those models would see the posts that apply to their units.

5) You are correct in that the same question is asked again and again in new threads even when the "current thread" bar on the right side has the answer to their question.

6) Still working on a member read only "archive" of benchmark mods; awesome threads; and manuals. Right now only moderators and the admins have access. This Forest River FAQ forum is planned to be a resource for everyone to READ. We can point to the FAQ when we answer questions so we don't have to upload the same PDF over and over again.

On another site I like there is a library section which includes topics like the ones you listed.
