New post in sub forum does not show up in "new posts"

Just curious why I made a post in tt/general/flagstaff but it does not show up when I click on new posts on the tool bar? Looks like only certain forum groups show up.

I think if it's your own post you won't see it.

Turbs might have the correct answer. I don't have any hands-on experience with using New Posts but I will inquired and report back.

Could someone click on "New Posts" and see if the reported thread shows up? Thanks.

Yes, it shows up - My 23LB Mods - or something like that.
When you create a post, you have already viewed it as far as the software is concerned. "New Posts" is a list of posts you have not yet viewed.

This is exactly right and is the reason the post doesn't show.

wrvond is correct. This is it in a nutshell, as per our Forum FAQ's. If your post is the last one in the thread, or you just created the thread with your post...then it will not show up in your "new posts" until someone replies to it....as per the FAQ emboldened in red below.

http://www.forestriverforums.com/for..._vb3_new_posts

How can I see the latest posts?

There are two ways to quickly view recently created or updated threads.
If you are not logged in, the 'today's posts' link will show a list of all threads that have been created or updated in the last 24 hours.
If you are logged in, the 'Today's Posts' link will change to 'New Posts', which gives you a listing of all threads that have been created or updated since your last visit.

The administrator can also set up the forums so that each thread you read is marked in the database. If this option is set, then new threads (or threads with new posts) will not be marked as read until you have actually read them.

There is a built-in time limit to this, however, that will automatically mark all threads as 'read' after a set number of day, whether you really have read them or not. The default setting is 10 days, but the administrator could make this higher or lower.

------------------------------

If you want to see your posts, then you can easily use the "quicklinks" dropdown box and click on 'your posts'.

Based on the information provided above I think the mystery has been answered.
