OP Identification

A while back I made an suggestion to the forum administrators to make a change to how the username appears from the OP of the thread. My suggestion was to make the OP’s name different throughout the thread. The reason I suggested this then and I still am suggesting it today is I find myself always having to go back to the first post to see who the OP was. I know poor memory or getting old but sometimes these threads go on for days and sometimes weeks.

When a thread starts to get several pages long or continues for an extended amount of time it becomes harder and harder to recall who made the OP, especially after the thread is hijacked or others pipe in with their issues. It is always nice to know if the OP resolved their issue or are still looking for answers.

Is it possible to make the OP’s username different? I know the site team members are different. I don't know, make their username blue. Just a friendly suggestion, again. Dalford

Good Idea. I would also add that "the current forum the thread is posted in" would be handy too. The issue here is this is a website and the moderators do not program(write the website software).

Yes that would be handy information. Really important if you are using your phone outside of the phone application.

I realize it is a website but I know someone on the higher up on this forum can suggest changes and I know over the 3 years I have been here there have been improvements and very rarely some hiccups that have been worked on.

I love this forum and website format. Some others I've visited just don't have the look or feel as this site.

I may be asking to much and will love this site (and members) regardless of any suggested improvement that may not get past first base..... dalford

Yeah I too would like to see something like that. Some other forums just use 'OP' next name. Would be nice to see.

Yes, we are limited as to what the Vbulletin software for the site is capable of. As far as the site team having a different color username, this has to do with a user classification, and that affects the username throughout the entire site, and not just a thread or post.

if using the full web version of frf (not a mobile app), you do have a way to view threads differently that might could help in what you are trying to accomplish somewhat.

You can look at the toolbar above a thread, use the thread display mode dropdown box to change how a thread tree works. Using the hybrid mode, may be what you want to do.

http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...thread_display

When using the hybrid mode, then you will have an outline/thread tree at the top of the page, which shows the OP and more. Here is a screenshot of this thread in hybrid mode. You can also change a setting in your user cp to how ALL threads are displayed if you want this to apply to all of them that you view.
