How do you post pictures in a private message? I see the yellow URL upload thing but how do I do this?

The only way I've ever done it is by using the [ img ] tags themselves.

Without spaces, you have to type:
[ img ]http://urltoyourphoto.com/path/filename.jpg[/img]

You cannot attach a new image, it has to be one from the Internet.

With the apps, you can directly upload pics from your cellphone/tablet.

I don't believe that works in a PM, just a regular thread post.

I just tried it via the tapatalk app, and it says this feature has been disabled by the administrator.

I've only been able to send pics via the PM function, as Doug described, by using the image url tags.

Ok. Now let me show more incompetence. Could you explain it to someone who is totally computer illiterate? Like step by step please.

Using the full web version of Forest River Forums

Forums 101 - posting, accounts, basics

1. How to embed an image stored on another site:
You can do this by using image tags. Upload the image to a service like imageshack and then copy the URL of the image and put that between [IMG] tags. That will work well, as long as the host site stays in business and doesn't disable your image for overuse of bandwidth etc.

You can also paste in the location of a photo stored here in a photo gallery.

To do this: Paste the url of the image into your post. Then add the following code on either side of the url (with no extra spaces):

[IMG]url here[/IMG]

The image will appear where the url was in your text.

---------------------------------------------------

2. Use the "image url" icon. In the pic below I have an arrow pointing at the image url icon. You will see this icon above the text box when either posting to threads or composing private messages. You can select the icon, and a new box will appear (I have circled in red in the pic). You can then enter/paste the url of the image you want to appear in this box and it will show up in the post/private message.

Hint: if pasting the image url, by default the box automatically puts in the http:// part of the url (see pic). It's best to erase that part before pasting the full image url into it....or you may get double http://
