Rash of Bad Reported Posts
So, folks;
I can understand our new members clicking on the "Report Post" button instead of the "Reply" button (and we have had a bunch lately), but what is going on with some "old heads" who are making the same mistake?
It is pretty obvious to the Moderators when it happens, but I am wondering if we are not doing something we should to prevent it.
Ideas?

It would help to know or see how the site looks like when viewing on a mobile device - where is the "Report a post" button in comparison to "post reply" button?

I make 99% of my posts from my iPhone and the reply and report buttons are nowhere near each other. It's a two step process to do either one so you would have to be completely misreading it to hit report instead of reply.

I use the FRF app on a DROID RAZR. Mine is two separate actions also. To reply you press bottom left on the phone it brings up reply, refresh, open browser and subscribe. Here is where a problem may happen, when you want to quote you press and hold post a separate screen pops up top is quote SECOND IS REPORT third is select and fourth is send pm. So I could see someone wanting to quote and accidentally hitting report. I have done it myself accidentally and once you hit it, it goes right through without asking if you are sure if you want to report.

Maybe there are some very sensitive people on these days?
I can't see how it could be "easy" to report a post by accident. On my android without the app, it's just like the webpage, so you have to click the triangle and accept the report...It's not a one step, "oops" kind of thing, IMO.

Yes if you are not using the app its just like the webpage. The app is a whole different thing.

I've been using the app for some time now and have yet to "accidentally " hit report.
Same for computer based web page.

I'm on using the app on a droid right now, and as mentioned and clicking on the triangle gives you quote followed by report. I actually had to search for reply to find it. I could easily see someone moving fast and seeing "rep... " and thinking it was reply and clicking.
Herk- are you able to see whether the reports are generated from the web interface or the app?

Funny you should say that. One of the posts was from you.
It was what prompted my concerns...
Do you remember this one?

We are going on a trip this next weekend where we will be leaving the campground for a good share of the day for some sightseeing. Would it be best to shut the A/C off when we're not around the camper or do most people let it run. After seeing the video of the RV burning up at the cabelas parking lot has me slightly paranoid about leaving stuff on when there's no one around.

I would suggest that atleast on the phone app that there should be a "are you sure" button after report button is pushed.
Unbeknown to me I hit it yesterday and reported a post not even knowing.

Not that I am aware of.
I think we found a "bug" in the mobile app that should be fixed.
Bumping this to the top.

I use both the web interface and the droid app. I haven't sorted how to post from the app yet, but could accidentally be one of the offenders. If so, we will get better. Promise

Actually no I didn't.
I was actually posting a reply on the thread and noticed later it never got posted.
I thought I must not have sent it.

I knew that. This is indeed an issue we will look into.
I don't use the iPhone app myself, (even on the phone).
I use Safari as the look and feel is exactly the same as Explorer.
(Just tiny)
The fact you can report a post and not know you did it needs to be fixed.

Iphone app has the quote and report option together when you click the banner of the person posting. I have brought up the menu while scrolling and hit report before. Should be a confirmation button that pops up but not in center as u could accidentally hit that too

Just want to add that I love the iPhone app! I find it much easier to navigate on my phone then going to the full site.
