Request (problem with video ads)

This is more of a request then a thread but perhaps others would like to chime in as well. Recently while enjoying reading the various threads I have been plagued by looping video ads running simultaneously. Before reading the post one has to either turn off their sound or quickly scroll through the post to find all the videos that are loping and close them or mute the sound. I understand why they might need the ads but seriously doo we need the looping videos? Can we stop looping video ads?

I have not seen any videos at all and I have been here for years.
If you are logged in I don't believe you should get any videos.
Maybe it's time to cleanup you browser cache.

I have not seen any looping videos either.

I also suggest the addition of an Ad Blocker to whatever browser you are using.

If you are browsing from a PC-type system, Firefox Browser and Ad Block Plus are your friend.

There are similar capabilities for other browsers.

Post what you are using to surf / browse and someone with the appropriate "tech" skills (PC - Apple - iGadget - Tablet - SmartPhone) can show you the way. Nobody should suffer as you have described !!!

Ads

So let me understand what you are all saying, that is, IGGY, 5picker, and Jeff and Abby, you see no ads at all while in the forums? Or, you see no looping videos? I wannacamp welcome to my world. Thanks everyone for your posts.

Ads

I have Pop up blockers enabled and third party blockers enabled. Thanks for the suggestion though. I think this issue stems from how this forum is financed or perhaps how the forums hosting provider hosts the web site. Just a thought.

Can you provide a screen shot of where the video ads are on your screen?

I have never encountered any video ads on this site, but I do run Ad Block.

Edited to add: I just logged out and turned off ad block and still get no videos.

screen shot

I am attaching a screen shot of what I am talking about. I have tested this on Chrome, and Firefox and both show looping videos. Of course screen print to a Word Doc will not show a video in progress so what you see is a still shot. Any browser can be configured in many different ways so perhaps this is a configuration issue. Also web site hosts can force users to view ads regardless of popup (Ad) blockers, case in point Google owns Yahoo and they have specific Ad policies if you choose to use them. I appreciate all of your comments.

It's nothing to do with this site. It is due to the places you visit online and the boxes you choose to click on.

Nomad, part of what you say is correct but some of the videos have nothing to do with where I have browsed, clearing all browsing data including cookies does not appear to help, thanks for the thought though.

What browser were you using when you took the screen shot?
It does not look like Chrome or Firefox and I do not see the Ad Block icon that is typically displayed???

I see a few unobtrusive ads or links on the webpage, but I don't ever recall pop-ups, video, or sound. Something has invaded your computer from another source, I suspect.

I've never had any videos pop up, not one. I use FireFox with the uBlock Origin popup blocker. I never have any popup problems of any kind.

No video ads for me. But I use https://adblockplus.org/ and never have ads on my Youtube videos or other stuff like you are mentioning.
