Scam Alert!!!

I just received a private message notification on this forum. When I opened it it went to a scam browser page telling me my PC was infected with a virus and wanted me to click on a link that would solve my problem. Based on the bad English in the warning and some other hints, I realized this was a scam. It wouldn't let me move away or close the page, so I shut down my browser using Task Manager. That seems to have gotten rid of the scam, but I haven't try to reenter the private message area.

DrLewie, are you positive it was true private message notification, or could it had been an advertisement that stated something about a private message?

I checked your settings and you are also set to get emails when you get a private message here. Can you check you your email for any possible private messages from Forest River Forums?

If you did get one, can you forward that email to me. I am going to also send you an email from wmtire, so you will have my email address.

Bobby

OK DrLewie was gracious enough to be able to provide a screenshot of what occurred. It appears to a clickable ad in the top advertisement banner that AdChoices has rotating. It was not a popup PM notification.

We will try to contact AdChoices and have this removed.
