Sub Forum for Tent Campers & Hard Side Pop Up

Why isnt there a sub forum seperating tent campers and hard sided pop ups? I notice other Forums have brand sub forums....I am just asking for consideration of the 2 types of pop ups, since are quite different from each other?

Thanks in advance for considering my query!

Tamara

LOL - I visit that one everday...but it is a mixxed bag, with tent campers and hard siders all under one roof. I am asking for a seperate room for each. For ex: Tent campers have lift systems and a hard side lift system is the owners arm (hand) pushing the wall up...haha

I guess I am just pointing out just because they pop up or fold down doesnt mean they are similar enough to be in one category....but for now, it is what it is unless others ask for the same...

I did notice another person asked the same earlier this year (April 12 by jpetrey) but their question went unanswered....so I do appreciate the notice you took to respond to my question, Herk!

When posts go unanswered often it's due to rotation with incoming posts. Many of us do search for threads without replies but it can be a bit of a challenge especially on a busy day or when time is limited.

Hi Terier,

Thanks for your note. I cant imagine the amount of attention that running this Forum requires. I co-moderate a forum of just over 400 members and singly run another of only 120 members...and definitely understand rotational posts.

When I mentioned this question was asked a few months ago, I figured no one answered because no one had an answer. LOL -(its possible...this FR forum is a big undertaking)

But I too, was just curious as to possibility of having a subforum created specific for 1) Hard Sided pop ups as well as for 2) Tent campers - to be found under the "Tent camper/A frame pop up" category?

Yes, they are both folding trailers, but very different with their own user concerned issues due to their design.

Thanks for considering this. (Tamara)

most other large RV forums have just "Folding" camper or "Popup" camper sections. no separate one for A-frames and one for popups.

reason is, outside of Chalet, A-Liner and now FR, i don't think there are any other manufacturers of A-frames. so, it's a very small market in the RV industry.
way smaller than popups.

but since FR's A-frames are selling so well, it seems like there are a lot of them.

We will discuss this in the "back room" among the staff.

I can't say we will do this, but we will discuss it. As a moderator yourself, you understand that most members subscribe to a few forums that they either feel they have expertise in or they have interest in.

You might get more "eyeballs" on your problem or issue by having a consolidated forum. If the A-Frame guys and gals subscribe to that sub forum (for example), and not the main forum, your posts in the tent camper area may go unanswered for a very long time.

I am a 5th wheel guy and have only camped in a pop-up in 1986 for a week.

Yet, I can still manage to help with pop-up problems if they get posted in the correct tech support area of the forum. I get over 100 emails a day from this board and that is only from the forums I subscribe to.

Like I said, I think it will be a mistake to "over shred" the forum, but if there is significant differences between the units in the tent camper - Hard Side class (besides the obvious "lift" system) maybe we should.

Will let you know what we decide.

Hi Dan - Thanks for your note. You are right about the companies who make a-frame style pop ups...I do frequent Aliner forums as well as Chalet...more so as a voyeour, garnering what knowledge they share with each other. FR tapped into this market with growing success.

Lou - Not looking to rock the boat...just wondered why it wasnt a subforum. You answered it extremely clear. Pop ups do share similar features...heck RVs in general do...this Forum has tons of help and offers much to not only a FR owner, but RV owners in general...and I do forget this Forum is not affiliated with FR.....I appreciate that you all take the time to do what you do.

Thanks again! :-)

After some head scratching we've split out A-Frames into a new forum. Thanks for the suggestion

Thanks so much! I was actually going to make a similar request for a split and just was being lazy about it.

We just bought hardside pop up and are new to camping, appreciate your suggestions, do like the idea of hard side pop up forum as I have done a lot of research before buying and a lot is different.
