I will agree there are way too many places to post sometimes. I have been here since 2012 or so (I think maybe) and I still find new sub forums for stuff.

Let's face it. This forum consists of members with various levels of technology knowledge. Some are getting more "computer" time on this forum than they ever had before. Some are reluctant to post due to not being sure of how it works, some have IT backgrounds.
We'll never get all of them to post pertinent details about their units and it's problem. Sometimes the best we can do is help them help us by patiently asking for the info needed to address the issue. And most of you do just that. Thanks for helping the rest of us have a better rving experience. Your patience and knowledge, and willingness to share it is much appreciated.

My thanks to the site team and moderators who do a GREAT job on this forum! I see many threads re-located, combined, etc to make things work better for members.

An interesting concept. Not true; but interesting.

We do our best to "monitor" postings and perform some forum maintenance.

However, the lion share of our time is spent responding to posts and threads reported by our membership. Our members do more to keep the peace here than the volunteer moderators and volunteer admins do. With over 100,000 registered users (and as many as 3500 users online at once), the handful of active moderators and admins can't possibly do it all.

Education of new forum members is a close second in our priority list of "duties". Once they have been around for a few weeks, new users usually have a pretty good idea of how things work here, provided they have read the forum rules.

I moderate an auto brand forum and we discovered that members were constantly asking for clarification of the poster's location and model of vehicle they owned. Often, the answer you give someone is based from those frames of reference. For example, I see comments on this forum like:
  • If you have severe winters where you live...
  • What model of Flagstaff do you have?
  • Not sure what floorplan you have, but...
  • Don't know how old your rig is, but on the newer models...
  • Should I winterize my RV?
  • Are there any recommended RV washes around?
Our solution was to require location, year and model of vehicle. They can specify something like "The Southwest" or "Always on the move" if they didn't want to identify where they live, but most comply and it makes for better, more succinct answers and avoids unnecessary posts to ask for the information.

Just a thought....

Send a message via AIM to B and B
Who uses AIM anyways? I would add twitter handle link and Facebook link in place of a outdated AIM Handle

Understood. What I'm suggesting is probably more practical for a smaller forum. I see that you have. Maybe include my suggestions in your education efforts?

I moved to NC to get away from the cold and high taxes. Still have 4 seasons they are just subtle instead of stupid. No Mo Sno.
We have are share of hispanics too. I know it is a business decision but when the isles in Lowes and other places are marked in a foreign language I still find it disgusting. Worse is they don't try to learn or are not capable of learning English.

As threads sometimes tend to do, they go way off-topic and/or turn into subject matter that is best left off of our friendly camping forums.

This thread was about suggestions to the site administration that might could help in advising members in their RV problems. Had nothing to do with immigration or other, which is the road this one has turned down.

Thread closed pending a cleanup.
