Web site advertising problem

Hello,

I don't mind ads except when they interfere with the performance of the web site. A mobile phone add is trying to play on the forum web site as a video. All I hear is broken speaking and it makes the forum web site incredibly slow.

See the screen shot. The video is trying to play in the black area.

Everyone I know uses some form of AdBlocker to solve this problem. It's been discussed several times here.

I am a new member and find the forum very interesting HOWEVER if I have to purchase an ad blocker I may have to rethink!

You don't have to purchase an ad blocker. Many good ones are free.
You don't even have to use an ad blocker, it's totally up to you.
Occasionally some ads are more intrusive than others and the site admins can stop the worst ones if they know about them.
(I am NOT a site admin...)

At home on my PC with firefox browser I use addblock plus. It works great.

I actually installed the Chrome free version yesterday. I can not believe how much better all my web sites work now.

I just typed "ad blocker" in Google Chrome and installed their version.

uBlock Origin is free and highly recommended for Chrome or Firefox. There may also be a version for Windows Edge/Explorer.

I use AdBlock & Chrome, both FREE. If a site doesn't work with the ad block, you can unblock that page.
