That got me to thinking - just who started the FRF and when?

Excellent question B47.… This forum gets me thru the long winters !!!!!!!!!!

When I joined this forum it was relatively new and the membership was low but slowing growing. Back then I could visit the forum weekly and read all the new posts in a couple of minutes. It really is amazing to see how this forum has grown into one of the best, if not the best RV forum on the Internet.

I agree - members are what makes this forum great. Moderators are extension on the general membership and FRF mods have been especially awesome at finding a good balance for the Board

As pointed out Mike Rimmer was the founder, he was battling cancer in 2010 and wanted to make sure the community remained alive and flourishing so he allowed me the privilege to acquire the site. I last sent Mike an email to ask how he was doing in August 2010 and never heard back. I see his account shows that it was logged in on New Years eve 2010. I don't know how he's doing or if he ever won or lost the battle with cancer. I suggest we all take a small moment to smile and say thanks to him for getting this community going!
I agree with what Janet posted above. Without amazing members who have such a nice attitude and desire to help each other this community would not be the special place it is. We have an amazing team that helps discuss the issues when they occur, their wisdom and light handed approach is also a big factor in fostering the "right kind" of community.

This has been some amazing read. The links to some of the original posts on the acquisition of the forum were terrific. I also would like to thank Mr Rimmer for starting this forum and for Andy rescuing it.

When I first joined, Mr. Rimmer asked for donations to keep the forum up, and I happily complied. I remember when he got sick, and I feared the worst.
It's good to see it in such capable hands!

Some History, from a parallel universe…
I was a member and later part of the management team for the “Forest River Owners Forum” from I’m guessing before 2004 until 2010. This was run at the now defunct http://groups.msn.com/forestriverownersforum. It went away around 2010, so I joined this group in 2011 after stumbling around the web for awhile. I don’t know if any of that forum was carried over to this one or not as they did run concurrently for a few years. Kim Hall was an administrator of that group, who I communicated with whenever I updated the web site coding. I had implemented the use of a free search engine (the site had no search capability then) and also was responsible for some upgrading of the pages and format of the site (I spoke MSN’s HTML).
I could only find one image of that site, including advertising. As you can see the site was nowhere near as complex as this one. Somewhere along the line I lost a hard drive or two so all of the history is gone into the empty byte land. I do still have many of the pictures provided by the members for the "Technical Issues" (Modifications) page.
I know that the purpose and usefulness of the information presented by the RV community continues in this site, and it owes a lot to the members that have come from, and gone on to, whatever “campground” they chose, or were driven to.
