The looking under the door picture reminded me of this one. Our DS would check to see if we were hiding in the bathroom! Sister, of course encouraged it...

Helmsey, your photos really crack me up each time I look at them.

Ok, so here's my next- I'm cheating because we weren't camping, but we were at Bass Pro Shops and that's kind of like camping.

Is she mimicking the fish face or genuinely afraid?

I should be able to get a couple more gems this weekend. We are going to meet friends Saturday night while they are camping. Hilarity ensues when we all get together.

No kidding. Sitting here watching snow and the craziness of the weather lately- I'm happyabout our predicted 50* temps. Might get some rain Friday night, but I can handle that as long as we can get the tents and tarps up first.

That's a handsome manchild, Oaklevel!

He's one of those little boys with an adult like face, and ya know already what he'll look like once you blink your eyes and he's all grown up.

Better start diggin' that moat now....gonna need it to keep the girls away. I happen to know where you can get some gators for it!

Whatever you do, don't forget the cheese dogs!

While we did make it around a campfire as expected this past weekend there were no picture moments to be had.

Hey Ependydad, did you go tent camping this weekend? The weatherperson was so so wrong for both Sat. and Sunday, I was hoping that where ever you were camping at was spared the deluge we got here.

(Sorry. I'm completely and utterly unable to be concise.)

Oh we camped- we go up for the opening day of trout season. Come heck or high water- we go. Friday night turned out to be beautiful- chilly but nice. While I was able to make sure my daughter was warm sleeping, I caught a chill that I couldn't shake.

Saturday was clear until about noon when it started to drizzle. We put another tarp up (we are active participants in the tarp-olympics) to get us dry sitting area close to the fire. I donned my rain gear setup (rain pants + rain jacket) with warm layers underneath. After it started raining, I took the kids fishing at the lake. They honestly stuck with fishing longer than I expected. Didn't catch anything except for one of my well placed casts into a tree.

After we got back, the kids met up with some of our friends' kids (and grandkids). Pretty neat to see- my dad and one of his coworkers have been going up there for 20+ years now with me and the coworker's son. The coworker's other son would come up occasionally. Now my generation has kids and we're taking them along (my 10 y/o daughter and my nephew who is also 10). All told, across 3 camps- we had 6 kids who met for the first time this year. They all became fast friends and played with complete disregard for the rain. Even came back from the creek soaking wet and laughing about it. Pretty neat to see 3 generations all playing.

The hard rain came Saturday night and continued through and past us leaving. It was high 30s, pouring down rain which transitioned to sleet and ultimately there were some snowflakes when we were getting in the trucks to leave. That's easily the worst packing up of camp that I remember either ever or for a long, long time.

My nephew says he's going back next year. My daughter says she had a great time. Thumbs up all around.

AND no pics for the thread- my only camera was my cell phone. I fidget with it if it is in my pocket and I wanted to enjoy the "away from it all" experience, so I left it in the truck.
