B and B where are you located? If you find yourself in western NC, BUCK CREEK CAMP GROUND has a huge flying field for electric aircraft! Huge open field that used to be a driving range. Must be (AMA member to fly)

You have to have a price range. There's everything from 55 bucks to 3000.
The Phantom III is superb and works with iPad well. I was with a friend just last night flying one at dusk and it's amazing. The stability is incredible and the "return to home" feature is priceless (actually it's worth the price of a new machine).
Check out Amazon. You can get package deals even with a hard carrying case.

Drones

Just got the hubsan x4 http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00FPZ...HML&ref=plSrch
It is great. Camera has a great video. Takes only a short time to learn to fly. Not iPad compatible but inexpensive and great to learn on.

I'm on my second one. The first one I went high above the trees during an on coming storm and the wind took it out of site. The 2nd one I'm more cautious. My 10 y.o. son flies it very well. Did you put it in "expert mode" yet and do barrel rolls? It's definitely alot of fun and parts are cheap. A spare battery and large memory SD card is a must. For 55 bucks it's a good time.

Have 7 batteries and love the acrobatics and flips it can do. Put it in expert mode when outside and normal mode at 40% sensitivity when inside. Great video in the SD card. Taking it hiking this weekend. Love the video shots from 50' above.

I bought the quad copter shown below. It's slightly more expensive @ $115. It flies like a dream and is a blast to fly. It's design makes it pretty rugged and parts are available and fairly priced!

I've been flying the Sharper Image one for a couple of years (I WAS going to bring it to Goshen this year but forgot )

A friend of mine is a professional photographer and I got a chance to fly his high end one (Phantom 3 Drone - Smart Drones | DJI) WOW! What a huge difference!

But at $1,000 I think I will leave this one to the pros

I have a Syma X5C. Lot's of fun to fly and great pictures. I'm saving my pennies for a high end one that streams real time video through Bluetooth.

With the 380 mAh battery you get 9 minutes of flight time. Battery recharge is about 55 minutes.

Had the inspire one from Dji.
Crashed hard first flight.
Sent it to Cali for repair, and three months later, I had it back.

They said it had a faulty flight controller.
Amazing to fly, but scary as heck.
Sold it soon afterwards.

I have the dji phantom 2. Very cool! All gps driven. Can fly out of sight. Will fly for about 25 minutes, if the battery gets low, it goes into a safe mode and returns to where it took off or to the where the remote is. Here's a pic I took of our house Click image for larger version

Haven't tried drones yet, been flying planes for years and a little chopper in the house sometimes it goes outside but it does not like the wind or even a breeze, think drone flying will be soon though.
