We've seen those signs in a few places near prisons, etc..

We didn't take pictures, but there used to be a couple of interesting signs in Dumas Ar. near the prison there. I think they took them down when they reworked US-65.

Don't know where Dumas, Alaska is.

But the prison is Cummins....and it's Dumas, AR, as in Arkansas. But Cummins is near Grady, Gould, and Varner, AR.

Thanks, I corrected it in the post.

We have a not so good story about Dumas, is why that town stuck in my mind and I also remember the signs warning about escaping prisoners near there.

That is the prison between Pine Bluff and Dumas, correct? We have a plant in Dumas so I pass by it on my way to/from the airport.

Those are here too.

They also named the road that goes to the prison "No More Victim's Road"

Illinois and Michigan roads were even WORSE than I could possibly begin to remember! I have driven on better roads in Mexico! However, putting on almost 9,000 since July, I have never seen the quantity of road projects everywhere I went! Illinois, the microwave broke free, bungee’d it into place then repaired the mounting that evening. (Stupid installers did not have a block to support the rear of the oven, relying on the flimsy trim ring to hold it in place. Lasted since purchased in ‘14, messed up in less than 25 miles of Illinois roads. Glad I stopped to look inside the rig, or it would have fallen onto the stove/counter/floor! My the time I stopped in MI, it almost looked like a disaster movie inside.

That said, I was less than 20 miles from the epicenter of the 2 big earthquakes near Bakersfield in July. 5.1 and 7.3 or something like that did less moving of my stuff than those roads did. The first big quake shaking was enough to bounce me out of my char and back, the second, I completely levitated from the bed multiple times!

The explanation for these bad roads is too political to be posted here.

Let's just say that there are more voters in state's big cities than there are out in the open spaces where long stretches of road exist.

Not trying to be political in any way.
The roads in the cities are just as bad.

Several years ago while in WA State, we were traveling along HWY 105 south of Westport, WA. The State Park System has multiple signs pointing to the beaches. The signs are approximately 4'x8', brown in color, with yellow printing stating "BEACH ACCESS", and underneath it says "NO WATER". Wife had taken a picture, but that smart phone died and took the pic with it.

I live in Illinois and have a theory that the orange barrels and the snow plows are all stored in the same building. So when spring rolls around, they have to make room for the snow plows so they just put the orange barrels out in the streets.

They never actually do any work on the roads, they just don't have anywhere else to put the barrels.

Funny, we just recently traveled from Omaha to Minneapolis and then acroos the entire Upper Peninsula and back down thru Wisconsin and Iowa. The orange barrel business is BOOMING and I want to invest. In some places there'd be 3 miles of barrels warning us of the 200 foot bridge being worked on.
