Hurricane Matthew

I'm beginning to wonder if the RV Resort we're going to in Savanah will be reopened by the the 17th when we're scheduled to arrive. The same with ST. Augustine three days later. Not to mention our winter home near Cocoa FL. Time will tell. I've heard that it could take months to restore all services after a major storm like this one.

We were going to head to Stuart after leaving Virginia. Decided not to take the chance and headed back to Oklahoma. Made the right decision for a change.

That's a good question and one I hadn't thought about. We leave on the 15th to head south and be at Disney by the 18th. I'm curious what might be open vs. closed at that point or even how far west we'll have to go to make the drive down.

Yep, some right on the water, hard to get in with a reservation, but lots of private and state by there...

Wait until it's over to decide. The storm is not as intense as it was predicted. I don't fault anyone for that though. You just never know and it's better to err on the side of caution. Right now we are having big wind gusts in north central Florida, but not as big as they feared, which is ok by me. Last month we lost power for two days, but today we've just had blips, but the power is still on.

My son is a paramedic in Savannah. Lives on Wilmington Island. He just left a few hours ago, one of the last ones out, after transporting nursing home patients all night. He's in Augusta, got there 10 minutes ago.....and will drive back to a new shift in Savannah starting Sunday morning.......if he has a house to go to.

Some places it was worse than expected, some much better. Depends on whether it hits at high tide or low tide.

Saturday afternoon, much more will be known. Prayers for all affected.

Not near as bad as predicted. I live in gulf side, only little rain and wind here. East side of state was lucky as it did not come on land and did not destroy as much as it could have. Most clean up will only take few days to complete. Count our blessings and move on

The causeway to St Simons Island GA is still closed and scheduled to reopen Monday PM. No one is allowed back on the island till the local governments CYA on the bridges. No power anywhere on the island and probably won't be any for several more days.
Glynn County [Brunswick] just opened back up today. Lots of traffic with folks going back home. We don't know the damage to ours as yet, but there will be damage.

Sorry to heat that but lets hope for the best for you, I know it's a PITA but you can always repair the structure, and at least you and your love ones are okay. Been raining here for two days non stop but no wind at all...
