It's a GPS tracker, it's a Temperature Monitor...No, it's Both!

I had my first trailer stolen from a storage yard last Memorial Day, so there was no way I wasn't going to put some sort of GPS tracker on its replacement. After gobs of research I ordered a Trak-4 unit from Amazon. It uses the cell network and is only $7 or so a month with a year's subscription, easily the best deal I could find. I've been really happy with it so far, especially since I may have uncovered another useful feature of this system.
To make a long story maybe not so long, I noticed that the web interface gave the "asset's" location of course, but also for some reason what I assumed was the reported temperature for the area. Like many here I would like to be able to remotely monitor the inside temp of my trailer since we do travel with a dog I might want to leave him alone with the A/C or heat on for part of the day, so I emailed the company asking if this was doable, and I got a prompt response saying that I had a good suggestion and they would look into it. That was a while ago and I pretty much forgot about it, then just the other day I logged in to check the battery level (the rechargeable battery can last for many weeks depending on configuration), and wouldn't you know it the display now shows the temperature of the unit itself, which would reflect the interior temperature as long as it is located in a conditioned space. They did say there was a temp sensor built in to the tracker, I guess they decided to put it to good use. On the cheap plan updates can be as frequent as every 15 minutes, which should be sufficient for my needs.
Both a GPS tracker and now an interior temperature monitor in one unit, I'm a fan to say the least.

Great Info. Thanks for posting it.

Do you know the temp range of the sensor?

Not really, but I'm sure it will be wide enough to cover any room temperature extremes.

I was just wondering in case you wanted to put it outside somewhere.

Which Trak 4 model do you use? There are several on Amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I also recommend one of these, the charge port is recessed into the unit and it can be difficult to plug the cord in when the tracker is mounted up and out of the way:
