Quick question about your post on Onslow Beach, NC. Isn't that for military and their families only?

"Authorized" is the key word. You can be a civilian if you have a DoD ID.

From their website: Onslow Beach reservations can only be made by authorized patrons with a valid military or DoD ID card

Did you go to the RTR?

I didn't go to the RTR - I'm enjoying the splendid isolation of the (rainy) desert. I may take a quick look at Quartzsite but I don't like crowds much so...

I see you have your awning tied down to the lower part of your MH,,,
To keep the wind from raising your awning,,, is that pretty secure ???

Thanks to all for posting your photos...I'm new to all this and still a worker bee, so no winter camping for us. Probably a dumb, newbie question, but when you are on route to a destination and just stop for an overnight sleep, do you always unhitch your TT (bumper pull type)?

I don't unhook mine if it is level and if it's not level I try to stop so that the front of the trailer has to be raised, that way I don't have to move the truck and can hook up again easily in the morning. Do disconnect the electric cable though, some vehicles allow their battery to be drained by the trailer.

I'm so stinking jealous that you all get to go camping now. Hoping to make it to Florida in April. Until then, hope and dream!

Looks like a nice beach for sure but it also appears the R/Vs are packed in like sardines. It appears one's awning is almost touching another's R/V.

Maybe the photos are deceiving?

It's a nice KOA campground. We're here till April. All flat, pull through sites. Not a huge campground. Have free WiFi & cable & full hookups. You pay for electric. Nice little store, lots of onsite activites. Have a year round pool, main reason we came here but unfortunately closed till further notice due to a leak. So that's a bummer. Bad thing is campround is a stone's throw away from Hwy 90 and traffic noise is loud and 24/7. On top of that Egglands Air Force base training facility is nearby so you have 24/7 helicopter noise overhead. Not very relaxing. Otherwise clean facility, bathhouse & laundry facility in good shape.

Seeing the Red Coconut again brought back great memories. Stayed there as a kid with my parents in a Holiday Rambler TT back in the mid 60's. Had a blast swimming, hunting sand dollars in the water, sun burns, all great times. Will have to check check it out.

Not any more cramped then every other campground weve stayed at. Still have plenty of space next to the RV if we wanted to put the rental car there. No complaints.

Ants weren't a problem for the 8 days we were at Meaher SP. They have bait stations around every tree, and the maintenance team indicated they haven't had any problems with the cooler temps. Everyone is still being cautious and using spray and/or Borax around anything contacting the ground.

We at Huntington Beach for the first time end of October, south campground. We loved it, right on the beach and could hear the ocean at the camp site. Plan on going back soon
