This week we find ourselves at Garner State Park - located a bit west of San Antonio near a town called Concan. This is our first time to camp here, but I can see several return trips over the next few years in our future.

We've got potholes here in northern Illinois, but no one ever thought to put campsites next to them and call them a state park!! I need to call my alderman!!

Sure, camped there 3 weeks ago (no electric, unfortunately; the power at the post was FUBAR).
It's called Rock Cut because of the rock cut they made for the railroad back in the early 1900's. But guess what? You can't see the rock cut at Rock Cut. When they built the dam to make Pierce Lake, the rock cut got covered by water!!
