Although not as interesting as a pig, here are some of the sites we've been to this summer.

Photo number one is from East Burke, VT. We were allowed to stay on private property for the weekend mountain bike festival. Despite being camped right on top of our neighbors, the location had a great view (photo number two) .

Photo number three is at Wompatuck State Park in MA. Close to home so it's great for weekend getaways.

Photo number four is from the Indianhead Resort in Plymouth, MA. Although it is also close to home it was fun to use the site as a base for our kayaking adventure. The last photo is me on approach to the Plymouth Rock from the water. Lots of fun paddling around Plymouth Harbor.

Evidently they've been here for a month, and had paid for another month. They told us "we've been the only people here for a lot of the time, so we just let the dogs roam free".

Uh huh, and this morning one of those dogs chose to park under our bedroom window EARLY, and exercise its vocal chords.

Then, while we were sitting on the patio around 10 AM, with Fred (our dog) sitting just off the patio in the grass (on his leash), the man opened his MH door and ALL FOUR of those yorkies (remember they're not small) came TEARING over to our site, yipping at the top of their lungs, running around our chairs like banshee Indians, then made a run at Fred.

UHHHH NOPE, that's enough....I made a bee line for the office. The owner is away on vacation and they have a "camp worker" couple here running the park. They acted like they really didn't want to address the issue, so as I was standing there a new arrival came in the door. I turned around and told him...."if you have a dog, be careful, these folks will NOT enforce the leash rule we ALL sign when we check in and they're allowing dogs to run rampant in the park." I then walked out the door and said the same thing to the man's wife who was holding her little dog in their truck.



That got things rolling. After about 30 minutes the camp worker guy came down and talked to the pig/yorkies owners. Then they took off up to the office. They're checking out Sunday now. I guess they're heading for the next park they can ignore the rules in. Obviously the guy didn't hold a grudge, as he was totally friendly when I asked later today to take pics and the video of Willow.

We'll also be writing a letter to the owner (Tony) when we get home. These work camper managers are worthless. Actually I think we were the ONLY campers who were keeping our dog leashed up until this morning.

There was a couple here yesterday in a Solera...two very large dogs...off leash....and when I walked by while walking Fred they both charged out after us. The man was very rude, said "there wasn't a problem until YOU came by" when I told him he needed to restrain his dogs. Found out that was a lie, since another couple just ahead of me on the "loop road" said they'd come after them as well. I reported this to the camp worker and he did nothing about it.

This is NOT the way the owner runs this RV park.

Weezer, I also had the same problem when we were there. Got up early one morning, leashed my dog to go outside. Opened the door and stepped out - too late. Four little Yorkies came running towards us. The man did try calling them back, but it's hard to control four at one time. We have two dogs who travel with us most of the time, and we always make sure they are leashed. It's amazing to me the number of folks who think it is unnecessary to do the same. As for the work campers, sounds like they just did not want to get involved. I'll still go back.

Oh we'll be back....planning on a November run. Tony and his wife will be back then. In fact, this is their first vacation since they started this place five years ago.

"Tony don't play" when it comes to the dogs and leash rule. Last year he evicted a family of five "feral" kids and an English bull dog within 18 hours of their arrival and set-up. The dog was running rampant, knocking elderly people over, out of their lawn chairs, knocking children over in the creeks, etc. The feral kids were racing their bikes in, under, and around folks in their lawn chairs under their own awnings. One elderly disabled lady was injured when the dog clawed her legs (horrible skin rips) trying to jump up on her.

The parents were the type that they just couldn't be bothered and objected strongly to suggestions by other campers that they control their kids and dog, and suggestions that their parenting skills were sorely lacking.

I've never seen a family pack up and GIT so fast after Tony came over to their TT. /smirk

To me, nothing will ruin a camping trip faster than a neighbor with dogs. The ones who think their dogs do not need to be on a leash are the worst. We had some two spots over on a 3 day weekend last fall that spent the entire 3 days yelling at their dogs to "GET OVER HERE!" or "COME BACK HERE!" I pointed out to them that the dogs would always be where they left them if only they would put their leash on, as is required by the rules at the CG.

I talked to the park ranger who in turn talked to them. After that they would put the leashes on when the ranger was in the area then take them off and start the yelling again.
Everybody in that loop knew those dogs names by the end of the weekend, even tho we did not want to...

Yep, those are awful as well.
Have camped around dogs and not known they were there but unfortunately that is a rare occurence.

We were guests of OC and TOWTA for two days. Not once was our Fred off his leash except at bedtime in the guest room where we slept. Even in the house he was on leash. (chuckle) They can attest to the fact that he's too darn lazy to even bark.

Here's our Fred and their Dusty in OC's shop. (note the red cable Fred is attached to) Fred is the dog in front...I got lucky and caught him not totally laid flat out. Usually he's like Dusty.

We do this not only to be considerate of others, but for *HIS* protection. We never let our kids roam wild, so why would we allow our dog (who is part of our family) to do that?

Most of the time fellow campers don't even realize we have a dog with us until we take him outside on a leash.

Several years ago, we pulled into a site about the same time as another trailer who was pulling into the site next to us. This was one of those parking lot type parks where the sites were very close to each other. I had my window down as I pulled in and was looking to the right when my wife said look to your left. Just as I turned I came face to face with a great dane who was looking into my window. I thought oh boy, then we saw a German Shepard, a black lab, and 4 other smaller dogs. 4 adults and 7 dogs in a 26' Holiday Rambler. Never heard a peep out of any of them the 3 days we stayed there.
