Since we are only here for 2 nights- it's only out while we are out. I'm too lazy to drive in the dog tie downs for a short stay.

We almost always were in one of the sites from 68-74 on that outer edge.
Gosh, I love it there...

He must be into taking chances. His next stop is a casino RV park.

Shhh, this is my favorite. It's a CoE campground called "Service Park" listed address is Silas, AL. It is on the banks of the Tombigbee River that has barge traffic as well as other private marine craft large and small. I believe there are at least 13 pull through sites right on the river bank. This campground is kept very clean and there is a boat ramp at the site. Make sure you bring food with you as groceries in the area is very limited as well as OTA TV and cell service. Nearest restaurant is 10 miles away and closest town of any size is 40 miles away in Mississippi. There is a small town about 3 miles to the east but about all they have there is a minimart which is fine if you need beer, cigarettes or fuel.

We love it there too. This was our second year there and I'm sure we'll go back next year. We took a map around and marked different sites we think we'd like and those along that outer edge were on the list. You can look out from your site and see nothing but forest. Someday I hope to have the opportunity to do what you are doing. Have fun and stay safe!

This is the Corps of Engineers campground called "Sandy Creek" located about 10 miles west of Jasper TX located on B.A. Steinhagen Lake. We stayed here several times. America the Beautiful pass rate is $9.

This is a very nice RV park located on the banks of the Mississippi River in Visalia, LA just across the river from Natchez, MS, called Riverview RV Park and Resort. They take Passport America and the rate was $22. Very nicely kept grounds, level concrete pads and full hookup. Cable sucks and WIFI is weak but other that that it is very nice.

Site #74 is, in my opinion, the best site there if you're willing to go without electric. It does have a walking path (back to the amphitheater) next to it, but it usually isn't a problem with people walking it. Easy walk to the bathrooms. You'll need a bike to get to the bathhouse.
The path behind the lakes is beautiful. Fuller Lake is picture perfect. And walking up the Steeple Trail gives you a stunning view of Laurel. Swimming in either lake isn't for the faint of heart. And the trout fishing in the area is top notch (though, the stream.. she doesn't give up fish easy).

This is Corps of Engineers Campground called "Sweet Water" located on Lake Allatoona about 10 miles west of Canton, GA. This is an older campground with not a lot of sites long enough for MH's. Flies were terrible and I was parked on an ant colony that invaded us (ant killer didn't phase them). We were near the sandy beach. Site was nearly level side to side but was off quite a bit front to back. I don't remember the exact cost but I think it was $13 with America the Beautiful pass. Nice quite park but not a favorite.

We visited Sandy Creek last year and really enjoyed our stay. The walking trails connect with Martin Dies state park.

When we visited DD we stayed at Spring Creek Park at Tomball, TX which is part of the Harris County park system and I believe the only county park with RV sites. It has 8 level concrete pads with full hookup at the best price ever, FREE with a 1 week stay limit. The restrooms and showers are right across the street from the camp sites. Only a little over a mile from downtown Tomball. One word of caution, I was told there was a lot of drug selling in the park so be careful, but then drug dealers are everywhere so this is no exception. It is patrolled by the county sheriff and there are park caretakers all over. I will stay here as often as possible when in the area. There are walking trails, tennis courts, basketball courts, swimming pool and ball grounds so it would be good for family use. One note, if you camp here make sure you have extra sewer and water hose and possible power cord extension as the services are behind the parking pads.

Pere Marquette Illinois State Park
We camped here last Fall and will do so again this year. The Lodge was built during the CCC years and is worth seeing and the food is good. Take a ride up to the bluffs above the Illinois River before it empties into the Missouri. Grafton, Illinois isn't far along the scenic River Road and Alton is close if you like to gamble or shop for antiques.
