Sbreen Buck Creek, in Marion, NC is just about 8 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway, which gets you to Mt. Mitchell State Park (highest peak east of the Mississippi River), Grandfather Mountain, Southern Highlands Craft Guild ( near Asheville, NC), Linville Caverns, Cherokee, and only about 2 hrs to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg ! About 2 miles from Tom Johnson's Camping Center, (soon to be, Camping World) all sites, but a few are on Buck Creek (spot # 8 &#128077 aprox. 10 miles from I -40 exit 86. Came here for our first, straight from the dealer to here trip, leaving tomorrow, after a relaxing weekend! Ladt pic is Swimming Hole # 1 behind spot #8.
Check out the app rvparky so far its been great!

Is it deep enough for kayaks? We are not looking for any white water we have a 9, 12, & a 13 year old. Looking for a nice flowing river with a few obstacles.

I don't think it is, other than spots like behind us at #8. However the Catawba river is close, maybe a mile as the crow flys, and its a slow flowing river that a lot of people tube, and kayak. If your looking for a place specifically for kayaking, check out River Camp near West Jefferson, NC the actual address is Piney Creek, NC. It is on the NEW RIVER which is know fir its wide, shallow, slow moving water perfect for tubing, kayaking, canoeing.

Well we been staying at the best KOA I have ever been to. Been here 4 day's, the main attraction here are the Luray Caverns. Been through a lot of Caverns but these have been the best. If your in Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley this is a must stop. We also went to New Market Battlefields about 14 miles away. A beautiful museum for any Civil War buffs.

Hello, what's the name of the KOA your staying at? We plan on going down to that area at the end of July for a week.

It's just KOA Luray, get spot 21 or 22 both pull through but they are sideways to the open space with outdoor ping pong and volleyball court. You could fit 2 football fields in here. Your closest neighbor is like 2 to 300' away lots of room. Also on Friday nights they have a fire brick oven that they make pizza on. 4 miles from the caverns. Hope that helps. Also they have a pool and are finishing up a second bigger one....10 out of 10 stars from me....

North Rim Camp Ground, Grand Canyon National Park. Reserve early as the CG is always full.
A short walk and you're looking over Transept Canyon down to Bright Angel.
Really nice camping. Spent 4 days exploring the canyons
