Thanks Gleaner. It was crazy to say the least. We were actually already packing up since the fire planes were going right over our heads and the DW has bad asthma and the smoke was getting thick. I drove up the road to get a cell signal to call the others that were coming up and ran into a few sheriffs that were stopping people at the turn off to our campground and told me to tell the others to pack up and head out. We've sadly been through this before a couple years ago up at huntington during the big mammoth fire.

Ichetucknee Springs campground

HUGE sites - could have added 5-10 tents to ours. Small campground near Fort White, FL near the north end of Ichetucknee Springs State Park. Tubes for river float rented from the CG for the first day (a 3 hour float from the headsprings) followed the next day with a 1.5 snorkeling from midpoint (make sure you land to the far left - right side will suck you under the dock)

Nice pics ! At first I thought that was Ginny Springs. I went there a couple of times in the late 70s Scuba diving with a local dive shop here in western NC

Lakewood Campground in Myrtle beach for 9 nights. Nice site near crater lake with some shade which is needed. It is tremendously hot. We all got burnt yesterday at the beach so decided to go to the movies today.

Thanks. Wife said if we are driving that far we are staying longer than a week. Ok with me.

It is a nice place with a 5 minute walk to their water park or beach.

There is a private campground : https://www.facebook.com/pages/Ginni...54467317924131 looks like pretty poor reviews but we have not been there, DH was there in the 90's. He suggests Otter springs for cave diving & last summer we were in Blue Springs SP in Orange City & a ton of cave divers there (but camp in the park or you may not get in)

Most of the FL springs you want to be nearby so you can get in early morning as they all have a max capacity - so we go camping on Sunday & come home on Wed with M/T spent in the water @ the springs. Next month ....Manatee Springs SP .... yeah camping!!!!!

Spent 4 days at Letchworth SP in southwest NY. Large gorge and 3 big waterfalls, lots of hiking trails.

Lake Ozark State park section 4. Surprisingly dry considering the drenching from tropical storm Bill for 2 days prior. The lake looked like chocolate milk and was cold but welcome with temps in the 90'sClick image for larger version

Barry,

Exactly! I carry 2 cutout milk gallon jugs all the time now.

Originally, I only used them for the times we camped on gravel or dirt. The condensation from the 2 A/Cs can generate 1+ gallons of water per day, which can dig a nice hole in the dirt or gravel.

Two years ago, a BFO struck me, and I started using them all the time...Once or twice a day I will carry the jugs in the camper and dump the water down the toilet. This is especially handy on short camping trips to add to the liquid in the black tank!

What I thought.

Now, BFO?

Don't make me look that up!
