Spent a week here earlier this month, was able to pull our boat up to the edge of our campsite.

Had a great time. 9 nights wasn't enough. I did notice handicap chair lifts at the pool and lazy river. Also saw someone with a beach wheelchair.
We are at site 1930.
Leaving in the morning.

KOA Travelers Rest, SC
What an appropriate name for a town. It's just north of Greenville. Spent a few days there and for a small campground, I thought it was very nice. Wooded, small stream at back of site, hiking trail, small pool and just plain site. Owners were celebrating their 1 yr. anniversary as KOA owners. They were very friendly, and willing to help in any way. Weather was great, rain one night out of 5 and temps were HOT...hit 101 one day but I love the heat...Cooler under the trees and nights were nice. Had some family camping there too and I made a Chicken stew of sorts in a Dutch Oven and A berry/chocolate dump cake in a Dutch Oven too. Kids of course had to have Smores. I also made Buckwheat Cakes for Breakfast from a batter I had started the prior week.....YUMMY.... Would definitely go back there.

Here is our overnight stay at a KOA in Fredericksburg VA from Myrtlebeach. Not a bad pull through site with a view of their pond.

If you mean the State Park we've hiked some trails there and toured the campground. It's very nice. Lots of waterfront spots if that's your thing.

Yes it is the state park. Can you make reservations or is it first come first serve?

We live adjacent to the park in Sevier County, right off exit 407. Elkmont is one of our favorite places to go, and of the 3 major campgrounds (Smokemont and Cades Cove being the other 2) we prefer Elkmont because of the river running through it.
Sites are nice, but be aware there are no hookups and some are kind of short. Sites are generally level, but some of the drives leading up to them have some incline. Bring a few extra boards for the front jacks.. Reservations recommended. We've been there mostly in our popup but see many TT's and some motor homes as well. Generators are allowed, but have to be turned off at 8. A good amount of ranger led activities (stuff for the kids too), short hikes, etc during the main season, which is now. CG hosts and rangers are pretty finicky about parking only on the pavement or gravel for the site. Also, since it's bear country, all food items need to be stowed when not being used. They make a pretty big deal about this and for good reason, both for people and the bears.
There are bathrooms with running water, but no showers or hot water. There is also a graywater sink at each one. There are a few water locations throughout that you can fill your freshwater tank at. There is also a dump station at Sugarlands on the way out. There is a store by the office that sells firewood and grocery / camping supplies. Otherwise it's Gatlinburg or Townsend if you need something.
Speaking of Exit 407, many of you are probably familiar with it if you've been to the GSMNP coming thru Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, etc. On June 29th, they will be opening the new "diverging diamond" interchange which is not what a lot of folks are used to. Supposed to move more vehicles in and out quicker. We'll see.....
Here's a link of an animation to see how it works. Forewarned is forearmed.

Wow, that's got to be the worst interchange layout I've ever seen. Is there a reason to not elevate more of the ramps? Just seems to me the more you stop and start the more chances of an accident.
